I don't believe that's what he's going for, it appears that what he's trying to do is persuade them to come over to "his side", which is what politicians are SUPPOSED to do.

I think you’re too optimistic…you give Democrats too much credit…you make the assumption that today’s Democrats are like the Democrats of old, like JFK Democrats. Today’s Democrats are rabid savages, they’re single issue voters, feelings based voters who always vote against the best interests of our nation…Very few are rational and logical…They are Americas enemies. They belong in concentration camps.
