You've obviously never been around classified material.

The President's ability to declassify anything he wants is not dependent on anyone else or their situation....

Never said he couldn't declassify anything he wanted to. I said that if he did declassify something, all the agencies that also have that information need to know that it has been declassified. Without the information of the declassification being done by Trump, the documents are still classified, and no change has happened.

Except for documents in Trump's possession. Those are declassified no matter what the documents in the hands of other people may be considered.

You are demonstrating more and more how little you know about classified documents. No. The paper isn't classified, nor is the ink (the document itself). It's the information on the paper that the ink forms into words that is classified. Trump had documents that had INFORMATION on them that was classified, and the INFORMATION ON THE DOCUMENTS is what needed to be declassified. If he had declassified them, then his aides would have taken those documents and prepared memos so that everyone else who had that same information would have known that it was declassified. Like I said, it's patently obvious to even the most casual observer that you have never been around classified material.

It all boils down to telling someone. Let’s shift a bit.

The Constitution says that the President has the power of Pardons and Commutations. There is nothing in it that says this Pardon must be a letter or form. It just says the President has the power.

Ok. So what would you say if Trump claimed that a man shouldn’t have been executed because he was pardoned? Trump didn’t communicate it to anyone in the scenario.

A little silly. Sure. But when the Judge doing the Special Master duties asked for clarification on claims of declassification of the documents the Trump legal team was silent. They didn’t respond. Why not?

Why didn't they simply call him? Instead, they sent armed gestapo...when they had already seen the records, asked them to put a lock on the door, then months later, raided the place......this was a scam, and everyone who isn't a biden voter knows it.

If you mean "Why didn't they simply call him about the documents?"

They did, for 18 months and the FPOTUS stonewalled the NARA, then the NARA/FBI, then failed to comply with a Grand Jury subpoena. Finally the FBI executed a search warrant authorized by a federal judge.

It seems you haven’t read any news.

They asked. Trump claimed that all documents to which the Government was entitled were surrendered. They asked what about some others. Trump hemmed and hawed and then finally coughed up a couple more.

He claimed there were no more. The FBI had a source who said there were.

A search warrant was issued.

More documents. All of which Trump said wasn’t there were found.

How many times are you supposed to ask someone to stop breaking the law? I thought that Conservatives detested such Liberal weakness.

If you or I were suspected of having classified documents. We wouldn’t be asked once. Much less repeatedly for nearly a year. They would shop up searching for them.

The problem my friend is you are starting from one position. That position is that they are lying. But what you should start with is a health dose of cynicism. Doubt but willingness to listen and consider.

I say that because the timeline has been out there for a couple months and you still asked the question like nobody tried to get the documents in a reasonable fashion.

Sorry, but if there was no follow up (meaning his aides needed to let everyone else holding the information contained in the documents that it was declassified), there was never any declassification. Trump simply saying that the did it without any follow up isn't how things are done.

Where is that required?

Hint: No procedures are established, so .....

Again. You have to tell someone.

Let’s say you as a Naval Man discover that a chart for a harbor has an underwater obstruction mismarked. It is not where the chart says. You notice this but keep quiet. The next day a ship runs aground there. Lots of damage. Lots of problems.

You have to tell someone.

But you say there is no procedure. Ok. Actually there is. Unclassified documents are subject to Freedom of Information Act requests. Even Classified Documents are to some extent.

So if the documents in Trump’s possession were declassified, and not released, that is illegal isn’t it?

Who requested them from him under the FOIA?

#1 FPOTUS has refused to claim in court that he actually declassified documents, when specifically asked for such a submission by Judge Dearie - his lawyers refused to make the claim.

#2 Classified documents are not FOIA'able and in addition Presidential Records are not FOIA'able for 5 years after the FPOTUS's term end per Federal law.

Why? did he have the documents at home.

Good question. Secretly taking the classified or top secret documents is a very serious offense. Even Trump can't be that stupid. So why did he do it?
