DOE wants to make US buildings twice as energy efficient by 2030

The Building Technology Office of the US Department of Energy wants to reduce building energy use by 50% in 2030, compared to the “business-as-usual” energy consumption projected by the 2010 Annual Energy Outlook

There is a focus on more efficient heating, cooling and lighting systems and new retrofit technology for roofs and windows.

Think every new building should be required to have solar panels on top of it to help generate some of the energy it needs. Mandatory solar panels would increase demand which would stimulate better solar panel production. Win-win.

When it makes real financial sense to do this, the market will make it happen. Having govt forcing their decision and choosing winners and losers is unfair. Trust me, landlords are always looking for ways to improve the bottom lines
