The Department of Defense on Sunday urged its employees to “pause any response” to an email that the Office of Personnel Management sent on Saturday, joining other federal agencies that made the same move.
The OPM email was sent to federal employees, essentially demanding recipients to detail five of their accomplishments for the week by Monday night. Musk noted on X that those who didn’t reply would be terminated.

“The Department of Defense is responsible for reviewing the performance of its personnel and it will conduct any review in accordance with its own procedures,” a statement from Darin Selnick, who is Performing the Duties of Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, said. “When and if required, the Department will coordinate responses to the email you have received from OPM.”
