Do you regret voting for Trump? A Sincere Perspective

A leftist asked me earlier if I regretted voting for Trump. In some ways I do, in some ways I don't. But that was a choice I made that I can't back out of now. It is moot to have regret now.

But since we're on the topic of regret, did any of you on the left feel any remorse for allowing your party to steer a cognitively suspect old man around and parade him about as perfectly fit and compos mentis? Did you regret wilfully ignoring the exploitation of an elderly man with no mental faculties by a group of handlers who, for all intents and purposes, ran the country while essentially hiding him on the shelf to slowly expire?

Do you regret being a party to that? Answer truthfully. If your politics are so extreme that you would do that to someone, or vote for that someone with that kind of foreknowledge, then you need to do some self-introspection. What they did to Biden was wrong on a number of levels. If your politics are so extreme that you were willing to vote for and put up with that behavior, it's time you reassessed who you are and what your values are.

Trump is by far not perfect, and in some ways, he's a vulgar, vengeful, ill-tempered, and impulsive man. My regret is that we couldn't have an upstanding man with the same charisma run in his place on the Republican side the last three years. But it is what it is. My regret is putting him before God and damaging cherished relationships because of it. My regret is casting my pearls (values) before swine, and having been rended by them.

But regret? Regret is pointless. The gamble has been taken and the result has been meted out.
Helllllll NO!

I find it telling that almost no actual Trump voters are expressing disappointment, yet the mouthpieces on the left keep trying to gaslight everyone into believing there is some massive regret. I guess when you’ve been so thoroughly defeated at the ballot box, propaganda is your copium.

Biden produced a record economy, returned us to normalcy after COVID, coordinated world leaders to help Ukraine, got substantial legislation passed, set a record for low black unemployment and he did these things according you with suspect cognitive ability. If that is suspect cognitive ability, we al need to have it.

Because Trump is worse.

Just to add a point to the OP’s inquiry:

One can be very highly supportive of the tremendous work so far accomplished by our President in his second term without necessarily agreeing with his every policy move or his every statement.

If, once in a while, President Trump says something I find a bit cringey, I don’t lose sleep over it. On his absolutely worst day, he is still miles above that old scumbag Joe Potato Brandon.

The media wants us to believe he’s unpopular. That’s their goal but much like when they were trying to tell us bidumbs inflation was fine and the economy was great, we knew it wasn’t. Now they want to tell us all how everyone is miserable and hates Trump, when in reality most people are much happier and feel better about things.

It’s just the media pushing this shit.

The blue suit thing comes to mind, the media made a big deal about it when in reality about half of the men at the funeral wore blue suits. They just cropped the picture to not show that and tried to make it a thing. It’s impossible to hate the media enough.

No regret,

I just wanted to say props to you for your honesty and sincerity... and for realizing that you were putting him above God and your values. It truly is good to see that, because I feel like so many people are either rationalizing and excusing away so many things that they otherwise wouldn't....OR (here comes the part where I'll get probably get attacked for just saying this) seem to be under a seriously bizarre mass delusion.

I don't have any regrets because I didn't vote for anyone in the last couple elections. The last presidential candidate I voted for was Ron Paul, who I voted for twice. From the moment I saw video clips of Trump praising the Clintons on NUMEROUS occasions and found out that they were friends for years, I distrusted him. (I say this as someone who had an anti-Clinton website for years back in the day, so I know how thoroughly corrupt and evil they are.) And my initial gut feeling has proven to be correct time and time again, for a slew of reasons, and is being confirmed even more in his second term so far. I believe he's 'controlled opposition'... and as a matter of fact, one of my very first posts on this site was me basically saying just that. But I'm getting tired of this entire topic, and tired of being the bad guy for just stating what I believe, so... I might take a long break from discussing politics. Which will probably make certain folks here very happy.

Anyway, thank you for being an independent thinker and having the courage to go against the angry mob by being public about how your view changed on Trump. On this site I haven't seen many like that, unfortunately.

I have no appetite for liars tonight, old man.

If you didn’t vote then fuck off. Don’t go on long winded posts about anything. You have nothing to say, you didn’t have the balls to participate when it mattered so take your complaints today and shove them up your ass.

I find this acceptable. Thank you.

I had to, for my own sanity, and for a specific someone I hope to reach again.

Have you ever heard the expression "had I known then what I know now"?

Most people make decision based on information that they have at hand, to be perfectly honest, I would vote for ANYONE else because I would ever vote for Trump for the myriad of reasons I've outline on multiple occasions.

And for the record, I did not vote for Hillary and when I voted for Biden there was nothing to indicate that he was not of sound mind. But our cognitive abilities began to deteriorate as we age and in spite of Biden's abysmal showing during the debate, he was still the president I voted for so no I have no regrets in the vote I cast. But then again no one is as horrendous as Trump.

I find this justification disturbing, and your willingness to go on with it to be equally as disturbing. What Democrats did to him was downright manipulative.

To be so extreme that you'd vote for a cognitively suspect old man being steered about by his handlers, and knowing as much whilst casting your vote, angers me to no end. And what's worse, you seemingly did it twice! It's utter depravity!
