The way I see it, America needs a 10-12 year shift to a more selfish economic model from the standpoint of meeting outside nations tariffs etc.

After America gets its annual deficit under control and shrinks its government you can revert back to a looser model, except, foreign nations MUST have similar or equal tariffs. At the moment they tariff the U.S but not vice versa. This isn't right.
