Do you believe in Democracy? Ukrainian edition

They built a Dam...

"Shortly after Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014, Ukraine built a concrete dam cutting off 85 percent of the peninsula’s water supply. So one of Moscow’s first strategic moves after invading the country (three years ago) was to blow it up.

Ukraine had constructed the dam on the North Crimean Canal, a Soviet-era conduit that conveyed water from the Dnieper River to both Crimea and the Kherson region of Ukraine."

Wowsa! That's enough to start a war.

P.S. - the Leopards aren't coming standard with American Explosive Reactive Armor (ERA), but only composite armor. But it looks like the ERA is being added in the field.

Yes. In the basic hierarchy of needs, fresh, clean drinking water is number two only exceeded in necessity by air.

Ath

2.5 million people in Crimea need water. You're not going to just truck that in.
I have known several people from Crimea and corresponded with some in Crimea. They all, universally hated Ukrainians. Looks like their opinions were not misplaced. If there were to be some circumstance forcing Crimea back to Ukrainian rule, it would be a bloodbath. It looks like Donbas is the same.

Why then?
Estonia, Latvia, Moldova and other Baltic states
Moldova is not a Baltic State.
..... are concerned about a potential Russian takeover,
Those countries have already been "taken over" by NATO and the MIC. For them to now cry wolf is an Orwellian obligation.
especially if Russia succeeds in Ukraine.
And what exactly do you think a "success in Ukraine" entails. Your answer should be interesting - not.
Intelligence reports indicate that a pause in the Ukraine conflict could allow Russia to strengthen its military presence near NATO countries
This will be the most childish comment of the day, particularly your use of the phrase "intelligence reports" and your insinuation that Russia is exerting an increase in strength towards NATO! :auiqs.jpg:
..... increasing the threat to Latvia and its neighbors.
Quotes from the beacons of Democracy & Truth with no self-serving agenda in sight or the above-mentioned "cry wolf" brigade? :laughing0301:

I wish you were wrong but now that we are a member of NATO my wish will be ignored.
A little late for the term, "Now that we are a member of NATO."
The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation was founded on April 4th, 1949.
I have a VERY STRONG SUSPICION that you know nothing on this subject:

1). Are you of the impression that my nation’s joining NATO was Democratically consented by us, the population?

2). What is your notion of “too late”? How long do you think my nation has been a member of NATO?

3). You’ve quoted the self-described originating ideas of NATO but what do you know if its actual application today? Is it Defensive or Offensive?

*** My final analysis is that you don’t know anything at all. :nono: But that's a good thing. You are a clean slate - starting from today you can begin learning!

That’s all it takes to make you run away?

I wish I had known that sooner.
You're going to have to deal with your feelings of uncertainty, that I've caused in you. I'm willing to talk about it.

It’s ok. Donald H and I go way back.
Holy shit, it's almost like, everybody on this board all knows one another.

I wonder just exactly how vast that ring of hackers is. It must be even bigger than I thought.

That’s quite a leap in logic.

Maybe. I do have this thing where I get really paranoid and then start imaging things.

Just wondering though, are you guys a part of that ring of hackers? If not, please ignore me. I am very paranoid and I have a very active imagination.

Of course, I also realize that there is the possibility that people will simply deny things. I guess the truth is too painful. For all of us.
