Tactical shooting is a well recognized category of firearms training. It stands in contrast to non-tactical or target shooting. Competitions that center around tactical shooting and the competitors that compete in those matches are not contradictory to the weak ass training provided to cops...which is akin to target practice.

Competitions aren't real, numbnuts. They're controlled environments. Real life isn't. In fact, what you do is significantly less real than the average paintball tournament.

LOL, you may have a point there! At least in paintball, you have actual people trying to get you. It's pretty much like a tennis game I have on the computer. I can play against the computer and you will eventually see a pattern, then if I go online and play that same game against a live person, it's much more difficult. Or if one takes Karate, it becomes easy to defend against those strikes when sparring than if they sparred against a guy who was throwing everything but the kitchen sink. That said, I do think that "tactical shooting" is a good base to go on to more advanced training.
