Do Germans view themselves as the smartest out of all of Europe?

I am partially German and it seems my full blood German relatives view themselves as smarter and superior to everyone else in Europe. In a way it's kind of funny. Jews say they are the smartest, Brits say they are, I know many Mexican's who claim they are, I know many Asians who claim they are the smartest.

I will say my full blood German relatives are all very smart, college and graduate degrees with IQ scores in the 120's- 130's. They make the argument that they come from great bloodlines. Since I am mixed and not full blood German I guess I don't qualify lol

I may have posted in this thread before, but I worked with many Germans, and for many Germans in my long and spotted career, and as a group, they definitely do believe they are the smartest people, at least in the Western Hemisphere, and probably in the world.

Notably, their collective stupidity w/r/t immigration and planet-saving has been remarkable indeed.

I could fill a good sized pamphlet with tales of clashes between American and German engineers, where the Germans would simply not budge because they KNEW that they were smarter and thus correct on the point in question.

One example for illustration: The German-owned company for which I worked was designing and building continuous casters for American mini-mills. The Germans would design the platforms on which all of the equipment was installed, and our locals would do the detailed work on the casters, water jets, and so on. Our price was too high on most of the projects and it was always that the platforms were too expensive - Steel fab is basically priced on a per-pound basis in the states. Our sales engineer was very agitated about losing all these jobs, so he got in touch with the chief designer in Germany to find out what loadings they were using to size the platforms.

Loadings? They didn't care about loadings. They just made is so "robust" that it would withstand an earthquake without bending (figuratively). And they refused to even consider building to the actual loads that would be encountered. That was not the German way.

As the saying goes, "They were too smart, by half."
