Did Roberts rule mandate constitutional to ensure Obama defeat?

Roberts voted for the law as constitutional under the idea that the mandate is a tax. It makes Obama look like a bumbler for vehemently saying it wasn't a tax. It is also an unpopular law which gives Republicans something to run on in November. With the success they had running against the law in 2010, it may be the end for Obama and the Democrat controlled senate. I doubt this is what he was thinking though.
 
It may work out that way. We'll see soon enough. Election day 2012 is in .....131 days.
