You could hit it at any angle, you can come up short, bounce and still slam into the building, you can overshoot dive the nose down and slam into the inner rings.
The pilot just sees a dot in the distance and aims for that dot. As he gets closer, that dot gets bigger and bigger until it takes up your entire field of view till you hit it.

You look at the cross section of this aircraft and assume that is what will create the hole.

But the structure of the plane is built around that floor which is reinforced aluminum I beams as well as the wings.
That is what will make the hole.

The semi circle above the floor (where the passengers are) and below the floor (luggage compartment) are thin lightweight aluminum sheet metal and framing that would shear away on impact.

Your engine is around eight feet below that floor.
