Did Command Sergeant Major Walz serve during wartime?

Buddy...stop trying to muddy the waters. We know what Walz has said and done. His fellow service members know what he did...and he is not someone to depend on...someone who tells truth. he lied about his service. He told big stories about where he was, what he did in war zones. He did none of that. Matter of fact...he is a guy not to be depended on. He has stolen valor...and he lied. He is a radical....no doubt a communist and so is his wife. Now the only reason you would defend this guy is if you have the same political ideas.

Many disagree with those who attacked Walz.

Walz has faced such attacks before, including in his re-election campaign in 2022, when his GOP opponent questioned his decision to leave the service in 2005. Walz’s campaign responded with a letter signed by 50 veterans praising his record and leadership.

ā€œGovernor Walz secured additional funding for new veterans homes,ā€ read the letter, a copy of which the Harris campaign shared Wednesday with NBC News. ā€œIn his first term, Minnesota was one of just seven states initially selected by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to participate in the ā€˜Governor’s Challenge’ to eliminate veteran deaths by suicide.ā€

According to records by the National Guard, the 1st Battalion of the 125th Field Artillery received an alert order on July 14, 2005, – two months after Walz retired. The mobilization order came in August and the unit mobilized in October.

Joseph Eustice, another retired command sergeant major who served with Walz, tells ABC News that while there was speculation of a deployment around that time there was no firm indication that Walz’s unit would be sent to Iraq until that July alert order.

Eustice says he remembers Walz struggling with the timing of wanting to serve as a lawmaker but also avoiding asking for a deferment so he could do so.

"He had a window of time. He had to decide. And in his deciding, we were not on notice to be deployed. There were rumors. There were lots of rumors, and we didn't know where we were going until it was later that, early summer, I believe,ā€ Eustice told ABC News.

Walz has said he has ā€œan honorable recordā€ — and other service members who led the same battalion have defended him.

ā€œHe was a great soldier,ā€ Joseph Eustice, who served 32 years in the National Guard, told the Star Tribune in 2022.

ā€œWhen he chose to leave, he had every right to leave,ā€ added Eustice, who indicated that other attacks on Walz’s record may have been made by disgruntled soldiers who were passed up for promotions.

Another National Guard member who served under Walz said that the future US lawmaker was eyeing a run for Congress earlier than 2005.

ā€œWould the soldier look down on him because he didn’t go with us? Would the common soldier say, ā€˜Hey, he didn’t go with us, he’s trying to skip out on a deployment?’ And he wasn’t,ā€ Al Bonnifield recalled to Minnesota Public Radio of Walz’s concerns about dipping out before the deployment to Iraq.

ā€œHe talked with us for quite a while on that subject. He weighed that decision to run for Congress very heavy [sic],ā€ Bonnifeld added. ā€œHe loved the military, he loved the guard, he loved the soldiers he worked with.ā€

ā€œWe all do what we can. I’m proud I did 24 years,ā€ Walz has said about his service.

Walz joined the National Guard after high school and had served in the 1st Battalion, 125th Field Artillery before his retirement, where he obtained the rank of command sergeant major.

During his subsequent tenure in Congress, Walz came out in opposition against then-President George W. Bush’s plans to increase troop levels in Iraq.

LOL Troops know of their deployment 6 months to a year out. He knew exactly what was happening. He's a coward and he has stolen the valor of real heroes...but that is what smarmy little cowardly commies do,

Jesse Kelly says that he claimed he had PTSD after his time in Italy in A NO WAR ZONE...must have gotten into some Cold Pasta.

You can always tell when the left is trying to cover up the truth with a lie....a very wordy explanation that bores the tears out of anybody that gets near it. The guy is a, and i quote, turd.

Apparently he didn’t even coach high school football..nope he was the 9th grade coach and lost that job when he got his dui

Attacks are accusing Walz of feigning a record in active combat: "[Walz] said - and he was making a point about gun control - he said, ā€˜we shouldn't allow weapons that I used in war, to be on America's streets.' "Well, I wonder (said JD Vance), Tim Walz, when you ever in war?"

Vance has been exposed actually misquoting Walz in one of his screeds.

In the clip Vance was referencing, Walz says that he "carried" weapons in war, not "used." Given that Operation Enduring Freedom was a part of the post-9/11 War on Terror, and that Walz was deployed to Italy under it - and likely had a service weapon - the claim that he is engaging in "stolen valor" holds little water.

Vance spoke on Wednesday as if he served more honorably than Walz, noting that he went to Iraq "I did it, I did what they asked me to do and I did it honorably," he said The senator was deployed for six months in Iraq as a combat correspondent in 2005 as part of the Marines' Public Affairs office. He - like Walz - never engaged in active combat and has stated that he was "lucky to escape any real fighting," during his deployment.

"Though Walz did achieve the rank of command sergeant major, it was a provisional rank until he completed required coursework for senior leaders, National Guard officials said. He did not do so by the time he departed the military and his retirement rank reverted to master sergeant on May 15, 2005, officials said."

The people-of-the-cult need to stop disrespecting military men and women in order to go after Walz

It's a disgrace that republicans chose to attempt to attack this man's record. It would seem nothing is beneath them. The disgrace is theirs.

There are some decent Republicans out there...

Last month, local Pennsylvania Republican Matthew McCaffrey penned an op-ed published by The Inquirer, titled, "I voted for Trump in 2016. His disrespect for veterans will make me vote Democrat."

...

"The way I look at is: I didn't commit 34 felonies; I haven't been found liable for sexual misconduct; I haven't drug our country through one of the worst days in our history on Jan. 6," the Republican added.

Attacks are accusing Walz of feigning a record in active combat: "

This is all a bunch of MSM BS. I am a VET (pogue / REMF-look them up) and saying some one has stolen valor is a very serious charge and who ever is writing the article is really splitting a hair for / against him.

To learn anything about the guy all you have to do is look at his 201 file. A 201 file contains all information about a service member's time in the service. I read 2 article before I said this is to much BS for me to handle. One was written obviously by a fruit cake who never spent a day in the service. She called the guy something like a temporally command-Sgt Major. There is no such thing ! The Army term is acting Command-Sgt Major all the way down the chain of command. (even to a private- acting squad leader) When he retired he was technically a CSGM Major until a DOA review of his 201 file said his rank should be down graded because he did not have all the E-9 requirements. The NG probably put him in place because they needed a troop to fill the slot right away and he was the best choice.

The guy is not getting my vote but he served honorable and this is all a smear like Justice Thomas.

If you want more I got it.

What war was he in? :abgg2q.jpg:
I am a veteran of the Vietnam War period. I never got to Vietnam. I jokingly told those who had that I saw way more blood than they ever did. I helped deliver over 500 babies at an Air Force Hospital. I'm sure those airmen were glad I was there to help deliver their children.and keep their wives safe. We all do our part and the job gets done. There are no easy jobs and all the jobs are needed and necessary. The last thing we should be doing is tearing each other down. We should support all of those who served.

I appreciate both your service and your honesty about your service, that is very commendable, it is to be admired...I served during peace time...piece of cake...right now though we know more about each others terms of service than we do about the one "crusty" cited...Walz comes across as a good joe, he just needs to remember the rules, I'm voting for him and Kamala whether he served or not and whether it was in a war or not...I just want "crusty" to fess up and tell us which war...couldn't care less if walz pretended to be Rambo...btw, any of those babies named after you?

I'm voting for them also. At least was was in the support theatre of operations of the Iraq and Afghanistan.wars. He never said he was in the war zone. And at least he carried a weapon , teaching others
Vance was a war coorrespondent. Wasn't allowed to carry a weapon at all..And he's the one who brought up this trash again. The republicans did this same thing when he ran for governor. He won them too. 24 years versus 4 years. Enlisted versus officer. Regular guy versus elite. Born in Nebraska ( West Point , about 60 miles away from me. Knows life as a farm worker and a teacher.forst plus extensive military service plus a seasoned politician ( least important ) but give me all the seemingly know-nothing upstarts we have today it's also important. An all around regular guy , not a pretend regular guy. A few were named the same name - Stanley , but not after me. I was support in.tje background.

P.S. The official military definition of a Vietnam veteran is , " Those who served on active duty in the US Military at any time from Nov. 1 , 1955 to May 15 , 1975 regardless of location. " So I'm a Vietnam vet even though I never got there.

according to that definition so am I I was on active duty from late 1974 to early 1975 of course I was only in boot camp and ait training but still according to your statement I am a Vietnam vet.

I'm sorry but leaving your unit after it's been called up to deploy to a dangerous war zone isn't serving "admirably"...it's getting while the getting is good! That was Walz's decision to make but it doesn't look good.
He retired before they were called up.

Not my statement , that is from the US Military , they are the ones who should know. But If anyone asks I'm going to say what I've always said , I enlisted ( not drafted ) during the Vietnam War. I don't want to cause any confusion. If they ask further I will explain my service.

At least his life is an open book. Try finding out stuff , the truth about trump. There is so much misinformation and lies in there no one may ever know the whole truth about him. Even down to physical attributes like height and weight ,how ridiculous and oh how vain and ignorant.
