Did Command Sergeant Major Walz serve during wartime?

Sure, sitting in an air-condition tent typing away on a keyboard.
When one starts splitting hairs about who did more duty...Compare 24 yrs to 3.8yrs.
Oh and when bone-spur hero "P01135809" is the go to guy.
Nice try Elliot! LOL
Command Master Sargeant .....CMSgt) is the ninth, and highest, enlisted rank in the United States Air Force and the United States Space Force, just above senior master sergeant, and is a senior non-commissioned officer rank.
Compared to Corporal vance....After high school, Vance joined the US Marine Corps, where he served from 2003 to 2007 as a combat correspondent in a non-combative role, including a six-month deployment in the public affairs department in Iraq.

And Vindman knows or should know that service in the NG is 38 days a year (1 weekend a month and 2 weeks a year) X 24 = 912 days or 2.5 years of active duty equivalent service. And Vance is a combat vet. He served in a combat zone, it's the definition of combat vet.

You are bad at math.

the NG serves 1 weekend a month which equals 24 days a year, and 2 weeks a year. Lets be generous and assume that these 2 weeks dont coincide with one or 2 of those weekends, so an additional 14 days. 24+14=38. 38*24=912 days or 2.5 years. Walz also did 6 mons in Italy I think but lets call it a year and we will add in 6 months for basic training and his A school. That's 4 years of actual service. You dont get the same credit for the 327 days of the year you spent working at your civilian job as the active duty guy gets. Their time actually wearing a uniform is likely about the same. Should we add in time for Vance's time in a combat zone? Having spent over 3 years total in combat zones I'll tell you it's not like straight time. 15-16 hour days 7 days a week. That shit adds up. Away from your family, getting shot at. etc.

All that to say NG time isnt the same as Active duty time. It's not even close.

Vance didn't even try to get out of it, unlike the coward.

Are you kidding?

Get out of what?

Partying in the Green Zone and typing a couple pages a week?

I went duck hunting while the Afghanistan war was going on. So, using Tampon Timmy’s criteria I carried a weapon of war in war.

So someone who was in Germany in the 1960's for his whole enlistment can claim to be a Vietnam Vet?
I got pulled off levy on my way to Vietnam. I never served in country. I am NOT a Vietnam veteran; I am a Vietnam ERA veteran. People who served in Vietnam got a campaign ribbon for it. Does Walz have a campaign ribbon for Enduring Freedom?

I know Vietnam Vets who never left US soil.

Yes. Then you have Vietnam Era vets. All the Posts now are Vietnam Era Veterans Posts. I guess they were all into inclusion, and equity, and...
No you don't. To be a Vietnam Veteran, you had to serve in Vietnam; period dot.

Ad hominems are not valid rebuttals.
Are you trying to say that the vegetable didn't receive a deferral for asthma? You are sorely mistaken--as usual

Biden received five student draft deferments and a medical exemption

Born in November 1942, Biden came of age amid the Vietnam War. But unlike millions of men of his generation, he never served in the military.

Biden received five student draft deferments, first as an undergraduate at the University of Delaware and later as a law student at Syracuse University.

And after a medical exam in April 1968, he received the "1-Y" classification, which meant he could only be drafted in a national emergency.

Biden released his Selective Service records to the Associated Press in 2008. At the time, a spokesperson said he was "disqualified from service because of asthma as a teenager," per The News Journal.

I'm saying Trump lied about his bone spurs because he was too pussy to serve.

Again, someone how has served multiple years and decades compared to a 1 stint reporter.
Nice try!!

Vindman is a Walz-type soldier. Thank God America has soldiers of a higher caliber.

The right and now it's the forces of MAGA, have always tried muddying and distorting facts. The convoluted arguments regarding Walz and his military service is a great example. WAPO (cub reporters?) is falling for the narratives put forth by MAGA and others.

ex:

The last paragraph. Walz did not incorrectly say anything.

Some of us have addressed this before:

Vance also accused Walz of feigning a record in active combat: "[Walz] said - and he was making a point about gun control - he said, ‘we shouldn't allow weapons that I used in war, to be on America's streets.' Well, I wonder, Tim Walz, when you ever in war?"

The senator actually misquoted Walz in his screed. In the clip Vance was referencing, Walz says that he "carried" weapons in war, not "used." Given that Operation Enduring Freedom was a part of the post-9/11 War on Terror, and that Walz was deployed to Italy under it - and likely had a service weapon - the claim that he is engaging in "stolen valor" holds little water.

Vance spoke on Wednesday as if he served more honorably than Walz, noting that he went to Iraq "I did it, I did what they asked me to do and I did it honorably," he said The senator was deployed for six months in Iraq as a combat correspondent in 2005 as part of the Marines' Public Affairs office. He - like Walz - never engaged in active combat and has stated that he was "lucky to escape any real fighting," during his deployment.
Buddy...stop trying to muddy the waters. We know what Walz has said and done. His fellow service members know what he did...and he is not someone to depend on...someone who tells truth. he lied about his service. He told big stories about where he was, what he did in war zones. He did none of that. Matter of fact...he is a guy not to be depended on. He has stolen valor...and he lied. He is a radical....no doubt a communist and so is his wife. Now the only reason you would defend this guy is if you have the same political ideas.
