DHS's status update says it is prepared to facilitate Garcia's "presence in the United States."

Met a parent of a student my wife works with in HEB. He had just returned from El Salvador (he's Irish American, there for his job). He said it's a beautiful country and he loves it there. "It's safe because they lock the dangerous ones up."
So safe…going to move there since you like it so much?

Why should I, now that we have a President who wants to make America safe also?
Based on your link, retirement there may well be an option in five years.

Updated due to change in travel advisory level to reflect changes in crime.

Country Summary:
Exercise normal precautions in El Salvador. Gang activity has decreased over the last three years. This has caused a drop in violent crimes and murders.

Maybe you should since due process is not a concern for you.

In March 2022, the Government of El Salvador declared a “State of Exception” in response to an increase in gang murders:

  • The State of Exception allows local authorities to arrest anyone they think is involved in gang activity.
  • It suspends several constitutional rights. This includes the normal protections of criminal procedure, like the right to a speedy or fair trial.
  • Tens of thousands of people are currently in prison under the State of Exception.
  • Several U.S. and other foreign citizens have been detained under the State of Exception. They remain in prison and have yet to face trial.

Wow.

I guess I better join a chess club, or a gym, rather than an international murder, human traficking, and drug smuggling gang.

No worry, you don’t have to commit any crime to enjoy a stay at Hotel Cecot.

Sending someone, on flimsy evidence, to notorious foreign prison known for torture deserves attention. This person did not murder any of those people nor any one else.

The US sent him to his home country of ElSalvador. El Salvador chose what to do with him. Why don’t you and a bunch of your leftist pals go to ElSalvador and protest?
We all know the answer.

Illegal entry
Thank you for finally identifying an actual(as opposed to fictional) crime. It’s also a misdemeanor if it the first time. So why was he sent to El Salvador’s most notorious prison for life?

We simply deported him home.

Not sure what his country is charging him with

I heard his President, called him a terrorist, maybe it’s related to that

He hasn’t been charged with anything. It’s like if I called you a rapist and threw you in jail. Are you then a rapist?

Why don’t you go spend some time in Cecot sans any due proc

Take it up with the El Salvador

Not our issue

I'd like to address that point about illegal entry being a misdemeanor the first time. Several posters have mentioned that.

To take an analogous crime, it is trespassing, a misdemeanor, for someone to park their pickup truck on my lawn and set up folding chairs in the back to watch the fireworks on New Years Eve. If I had posted a sign, or just walked outside and told them to leave and they don't, I can call the police and report it.

Yes, it will be a misdemeanor tresspass. But here's the thing: they have to leave. They cannot sit on my lawn forever and say they will just mail in the one-time fine for trespassing. No court would go along with that, not even if they come from a poor side of town with no good view of the fireworks, or the sunset, or running water, or newspaper delivery, or whatever other reason they decided to help themselves to the enjoyment of my property.

If they refuse to leave, the police will take them off. Not just to the sidewalk, but to jail.

The previous administration in fact did allow the international trespassing, as a deliberate policy. The voters reputiated that policy quite clearly in the election. The new president told illegals that they were subject to deportation, and suggested they leave voluntarily. The new head of ICE told them that he would focus on dangerous criminal first, but if they found other illegals when arresting those, they would be deported also. "No one gets a pass."

If Abrego Garcia had left of his own accord, he would be a free man in El Salvador now. If he had not been in the company of gang members, he would still be in the U.S., at least until Homan gets around to those illegals who "only" take jobs to hang sheetrock, or apply makeup, or whatever Kilmar supposedly does.

I'm trying to figure out if the left believes its own hype about this or if it is a deliberate strategy to oppose everything Trump does, not matter how sensible.
