When my practice was going full throttle, I was up at 4:30, to the beach for usually, roller skating. By 6 I was at the office working on whatever motions or arguments I needed. 9am found me at court until 5. From 5 to 7 it was talking to clients in lockup. Shortly after 7, I was at the office seeing whatever clients I did not see during the day. Home by usually 10:30 or 11PM. Friday night was devoted to county jail where I saw the upcoming clients. Saturday was state prison day. I visited with the appellate clients, or those with other trials coming up. Sunday was federal prison day when I met with those appealing federal convictions. Monday, started the whole thing all over again. 7 days a week, for years and years.

At my peak during the 90's up to retirement, I was spending three to four days in D.C. working to clean up Stratospheric Ozone Regulations and co-ordinating International Organization for Standardization with the electronics industry.
I'd leave the house at 6:00AM to LGA land in DC work all day leave DC at 7-7:30 and repeat.
Thankfully I had Saturdays and Sundays off.

For an "apolitical" civil service, politics certainly seems to color many of its activities. Last week, President Trump placed 50-60 senior executives with the US Agency for International Development on administrative leave (see Trump Suspends As Many As 60 Senior Bureaucrats for Trying to Evade His Executive Orders – RedState) for attempting to sabotage his efforts to cut grants to such worthy project as transgender Nigerian dance troupes; see WATCH: Press Hounds Karoline Leavitt About USAID, and She Comes Off the Top Rope With the Receipts.
Across the federal government, we hear stories of resistance brewing. The stories are probably exaggerated but real nonetheless. And every once in a while, one of the goobers gets out over their skis and gets burned. This one, thanks to James O'Keefe and the poor girl who had to go on a date with him.
The target was a guy named Brandon Wright, who is a GS-14 IT manager at the Department of Homeland Security.

Commentary:
No "Deep State" supposedly, yet we see entitled, undermining, civil servants exposed like planted DNC operatives every day now. That is not part of the civil servant creed nor the agreements of contractors hired to help. Its not lawful, nor accountable to taxpayers.
While Neo-Marxist Democrat Globalists continue to tell us there’s no "Deep s-State".
Mr. Wright say's differently. We are seeing the “Deep State” exposed, alright...majorly!

I am telling you what Governmwnt workers have told me. They go on ski vacations and beach vacations AND DO NOT TAKE ANNUAL LEAVE. I know someone who went to visit her sister for FIVE WEEKS overseas, and never took an hour of annual leave.

The abuse is unreal. The only case I know of where the Governmwnt finally put their foot down was when a group of employees went to the GOLF COURSE and played 9 holes while “on the clock” and getting full pay.

Sometimes observed abuse isn't really abuse. When I was in the Army, I ran the Brigade reproduction shop, a one-man operation. If I took a day off, the unit had to borrow someone to cover for me from division headquarters which hated to loan someone out for one day. My boss kept track of the days off that I couldn't take for things like guard duty when you got the next day off to sleep after being up most of the night and weekends worked to cover emergencies, I was also the brigade classified records custodian so anytime anyone in the headquarters needed to work on classified documents after hours I had to go to the headquarters, open the records cage and safes, sign out the documents and stay there until they were done and then sign in the documents and lock up the facilities. When the backlog got too large, or I need time off, I would schedule one day of leave and my boss would sign me out for the rest of the days. It was technically illegal, but it was approved by both the brigade and divisional commanders in writing. After that experience, I tend to wait for explanations before jumping on things that look sketchy but might have a legitimate explanation.

That is not simply possible. The instant I didn't log in to my computer and activate my phone, my bosses knew I was not there. I'll bet the same is the case for most government workers. You just are ignorant on that topic and do not even consider you could be in error. besides, everyone is going back to work anyway.

In fact, we could have returned to work after COVID, but our worksite was damaged by a major water leak and the decision was made to work at home until a new facility could be arranged. I worked for home for almost another year after that. I actually did go into our office to resign when I got sick.

I know two people who bought places over the past five years - one a house in West Virginia and the other a condo in Ocean City - and they each worked one day in the office.

The guy in West Virginia did the commute (about 1.5 hours each way) in a day, and the Ocean City guy drove into DC the evening before, stayed at his sister’s, worked the next day, and then drove back after work. He spent the days at the beach from May to October, with a weekly “interruption.” I haven’t talked to him in at least a year, but I bet he’s mad.

The DHS official caught on undercover video admitting the department will defy newly-appointed DHS Chief Kristi Noem is now under investigation and his firing is imminent.
Noem has vowed to shut down Biden and Mayorkas’ CBP One “concierge service” to facilitate mass illegal immigration.
During her hearing before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, Noem promised to “make sure that our nation is a nation with borders” and that she will enforce consequences against Biden’s criminal aliens.
Noem is also going to go after the NGOs that are funding the invasion.

When necessary, firing openly insubordinate employees is an effective way of showing just what interpretation of policies is acceptable. Wright made it necessary, too bad, so sad.
I think back to the Roman Military method of restoring discipline and order called "Decimation."
What should be done is that every tenth man in the GS. System should be fired. That should put everyone on the worried list..
