Giving Dubai a run for its dirhams, RAK is the fastest growing of the seven Emirates, and has experienced an increase of almost 25% in hotel occupancy compared to last year.
Being the most northerly, it’s the hottest too, with year-round sunshine and June temperatures getting up to a toasty 48C. We flew on Royal Brunei Airlines’ new Dreamliner from Heathrow to Dubai which is just an hour’s drive from RAK via a desert highway.
This thrilling road, which snakes past miles of sand dunes and a nomadic community of curious camels, took us to our base for the trip, the Hilton’s beachfront resort and spa.
