Hopefully, the $ amount Disney wins in this lawsuit will be substantial enough to really hurt the taxpayers of Florida. And, it should serve as a wake up call to radical red state governors who attempt to hamstring free speech rights. In DeSantis case, it is lose, and lose some more. He can't beat a mouse, and he surely can't beat Trump. He tried to take on a company smarter than him by leaps and bounds and is failing miserably..

I don't believe Disney asked for a large monetary fine (beyond FL paying for the Disney lawyers and fees).

IIRC - they simply asked that the FL Legislatures weaponization of government be nullified.

Obsession is funny.

So Disney initially got mega perks from state Gov't that almost made them a gov't until themself, perks that no other corporation gets. And now they claim that perks lost due to a weaponized Gov't.
Disney has a weak case and will lose.

DeSantis is certainly not acting like a Conservative Republican, using government to stifle a company's speech and policies.

I'm loving watching the pervs melt down.

Lefties talk about "free speech rights" while suing every person and corporation that gets on the wrong side of the Biden administration. The Pillow guy fined 5 million dollars? WTF
Wait, the pillow guy opened his mouth and some computer geek cleaned his plow. Nothing to do with Biden. Bet the pillow guy dont bet someone to prove him wrong.

There speech hasn't been stifled one bit, and the policies on their property will still be theirs.

They just can't get a pass on all the government checks and balances and bookkeeping everyone else has to.

No other entity gets those perks in Florida? You sure you want to go with that?

Makes zero sense,
DISNEY world largest single site employer 75,000 JOBS.
FLORIDA collected 1,2 Billion dollars in local and state taxes
. not even to count the money collected from DISNEYS 50 million guests annually
Talk about bite the hand that feeds!

Often the strength or weakness of a case comes down to the lawyer arguing the case. Chances are that Disney can afford better lawyers. Government Salaries don’t tend to attract the best litigators.

Apparently some Republicans get it:

"If it starts to be perceived that any corporate entity that's operating directly or indirectly in furtherance of a political agenda that the powers that be don't agree with, therefore we're going to use the power of government to target you, you get concerned," Rubio added. "If a Democratic [governor] and a Democratic legislature takes over Florida, they're going to go after Chick-fil-A?"

Lemme guess, "rinos"?

DeSantis is pandering to regressive elements by his authoritarian targeting of science, medicine, education, reproductive freedom, private enterprise, etc.

Americans who are awake are being blatantly attacked in his contrived culture war.

Floridians are being saddled with the legal costs of his repressive, unconstitutional self-promotion, much of which will be undone by the courts.

E.g.,

Saying gender identity is real, a federal judge temporarily blocked portions of a new Florida law that bans transgender minors from receiving puberty blockers, ruling Tuesday that the state has no rational basis for denying patients treatment.
Judge Robert Hinkle issued a preliminary injunction, saying three transgender children can continue receiving treatment.
“The elephant in the room should be noted at the outset. Gender identity is real. The record makes this clear,” Hinkle said, adding that even a witness for the state agreed.
Transgender medical treatment for minors is increasingly under attack in many states and has been subject to restrictions or outright bans. But it has been available in the United States for more than a decade and is endorsed by major medical associations.
Intrusive politicians with no expertise in science, medicine, education, private enterprise, or respect for reproductive freedom are appealing to an ilk that craves dictatorial control of society.

It seems hat many of his policies fall foul of the courts. Maybe he should check out a copy of the constitiution. Its unlikely h will get an opportunity to redraw it.

I assume that he is well aware that he is treating the U.S. Constitution with indifference if not contempt, his objective being to wee-wee up those who enthuse over his discriminatory posturing.
