Several buddies of mine are currently on active duty with the Army and Marine Corps and in various national guard units. I've advised them to do the same, as I've advised other buddies who recently retired like me. Myself, I never post political opinion under my "real" name or any of my pen names. My wife and I were talking about this last night, deciding if I should cancel my Twitter account, which helps me sell books, or just nod and smile across social media and agree with whatever insanity the woke cultists have to say. I get asked all the time by fans of my books where I stand on all kinds of leftist garbage talking points. So far I've been real lucky in dodging those bullets, but it's probably only a matter of time.

I must also note an alarming trend among some active duty guys I know. Some of them, all combat vets, seem like dudes who ought to be conservative as hell—I mean we're talking good old country boys, some of them—but instead have taken up some kind of belief that shooting conservative traitors, like anyone who "stormed" the Capitol, isn't such a bad idea. I don't know if they're running scared, trying to hold onto their careers at any cost, blend in for now, or what. But some of the shit they've been saying about conservatives being traitors is downright chilling.

Been feeling like . . . the prevailing direction of the wind . . . if we don't rescue ourselves no one else is coming to do it for us. Kind of like that guy stranded on the roof of his house with hurricane flood waters rising steadily. He waves off a guy in a boat and later a helicopter come to rescue him because he's waiting for God to show up and get him out of his predicament. After he dies, he's up in heaven, he asks God, "Why didn't you rescue me?" God replies, "Idiot. Who do you think sent the boat and helicopter?" I feel like that's the kind of situation we're all in at the moment. Question is, are we capable of recognizing either the boat or the helicopter when it shows up to help us?

If they start from the premise that conservative viewpoints are dangerous, they're simply doing political purges, and that's not good. Like I said, prove they're dangerous or leave them alone. If a serviceman has several years of exemplary service, there's no reason to kick him out because he posted once that he liked TRUMP!. Morale is built by shared experience and there are plenty who might hate a guy's personal beliefs but willingly put their lives in his hands because he's proven himself trustworthy. You know the inevitable after this, don't you? Every new administration will go through the ranks and pick out anyone who might be "dangerous" based on political beliefs. Not a good thing at all for Quid Pro to be starting.

This is a bigger deal than most people know. I have two older brothers who are active duty mil (Marines). There is real, real, and I mean real anger among the white enlisted servicemen, NCO's and officers. The rabid, race baiting, vile dems are on a witchhunt and it is causing divisions among the ranks and anger among the white service members who are presumed to be racists, white nationalists, whatever.

Does not sound like a purge, more like an evaluation and fact finding of the extent of a problem. If there is a domestic extremist problem, do you really want the extremists to have the benefit of continued combat training? Were you a member or just an observer from the outside?

Why is it now all of a sudden an issue when its never been in the past?

Actually, it really isn't. Service members can be vetted and watched/transferred/ discharged for suspicion of extremism. Like, racist activity. Much of the language is already on the books. The rest will be added to the next NDAA, if they even wait that long.
