The biggest mistake we made after the Civil War was being to conciliatory to the traitors. Lee, Davis and every other traitor should have been put on trial and at the end of a rope. I don't have a romantic view of the Founding Slave Rapists, no. They saved us from the abject horror of being Canadians.

But that said, Washington was fighting on understandable principles- self-rule and democracy. The Confederate assholes just wanted to keep owning slaves. (And yes, the Civil War was about slavery and only slavery. Anyone who says different is a liar or an idiot.)

Hardly. Historical facts are historical facts. The US only fielded 97 divisions in WWII (both theaters). The Soviets fielded over 400 divisions, all of them dedicated to ending Hitler. They did most of the heavy lifting in WW2, and when they finally joined the Pacific War, that's when the Japanese finally surrendered (much more than the atom bomb.)

Actually, the word has been recycled many times.

It initially meant someone who was promiscuous.

Then it meant "happy"

Then it meant "homosexual".

For a while, they tried to use it to mean "Lame" or "Stupid", but that never really caught on.

I knew a kid at primary school he didn't jell with us other lads playing football etc, he was a little effeminate he would be about 9 years old many years later when he was an adult it was clear he was homosexual, but don't tell me he made a choice at aged 9.
