The only thing Democrats would be interested in is "bipartisan" (i.e., one or two GOP votes) legislation that would carry a catchy title like "The American School Safety Act" or some such other nonsense. Then they could claim credit for a probably unconstitutional law that would have little or no effect on most gun violence but could be used as a scare tactic against a potential GOP Congressional majority after the fall elections.
