Latin might refer to the people as a whole, but individuals are Latino for men and Latina for women. Or, sometimes Chico or Chica. The modern woke believes that gender is forced. To be truly gender neutral, gendered language has to be abolished. Spanish and French are both gendered languages.

Since the objection has been so serious, the term latinx might be used the same way trans is used.
