Democrats vote down GOP bill to pay troops, some federal workers amid shutdown

I keep seeing the Democratic Party on social media post these sob stories about how people are struggling during the shutdown. One would think they would be okay with passing legislation that would okay paying our military and some federal workers then, but no. This continues to be a power play. The American people are an afterthought.

While the NYPOST (The New York Post endorsed former President Trump for president) runs with stories that blame Democrat and make T<rump and Republicans look like saints...

We have...

"Republicans have shown zero interest or capacity to reopen the government, enact a spending agreement that meets the needs of the American people, or address the health care crisis that Republicans have created," said House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

"This is now the second longest government shutdown of any kind ever in the history of our country, and it's just shameful," said Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson. "Democrats keep making history, but they're doing it for all the wrong reasons."

Two different versions of reality. But in the end, the one that counts belongs to the voters.

What do voters think?

FOX on Fetterman's words:

The Democratic senator also condemned what he described as "extreme" rhetoric from party leaders, referencing President Donald Trump being labeled a "fascist."

"Extreme kinds of rhetoric make it easier for those extreme kinds of actions," he said.

"I refuse to be a part of it and comparing people to Hitler and those things," he added. "If that's what's required to win, then I refuse to."

Fetterman cautioned that inflammatory language is steering the country in the wrong direction, saying, "We’ve lost the plot."

"I refuse to call my fellow citizens fascists or Nazis or those things," Fetterman said. "If somebody wants to primary me or the party wants to vote me out, I'm going to go down being honest and telling you that this is wrong.
"

Yet Fetterman ignores extreme" rhetoric from MAGA party leaders Trump, Speaker Johnson and others. Trump himself constantly calls Dems "traitors," "unpatriotic," and "communists" or "Marxists" and Speaker Mike:

Speaker Mike Johnson says leaders shouldn’t call opponents “Nazis and fascists” over policy disputes, arguing it fuels division. Yet #DonaldTrump repeatedly does just that — calling fellow Americans--

“the enemy from within,” “Marxists,” “communists,” “scum,” and even “a bigger threat than China or Russia.” He paints millions of people as traitors who “hate our country.”

That’s the hypocrisy: Johnson warns against rhetoric he knows is dangerous, while Trump leans on it as his political brand. This kind of dehumanizing language isn’t debate — it’s fuel for deranged people who see it as permission to act violently. Leaders can’t demand civility from critics while excusing Trump’s own words that put lives at risk.

Comprehension of the written word isn't one of your high points either. May I remind you of the word 'deplorables?' As for the other references, a simple search of ANY democrat protest or any of the squad members' remarks pretty much nullifies any false point you were trying to make. FAIL.

Reality strikes:

a few quotes:

“Health insurance in America is very expensive, because health care is very expensive,” said Katherine Baicker, a health economist who is the provost at the University of Chicago. “And that’s true in every market. What’s different is who is writing the check, and how easily perceived the full cost is to the individual who is being insured.”

...

In Medicaid, which serves the poor, most beneficiaries pay no premiums at all, leaving the bill to federal and state governments. In Medicare, which covers older and disabled people, hospital care is financed through a dedicated payroll tax that nearly all workers pay. And the government also covers about 75 percent of the costs of patients’ outpatient care and prescription drugs.

...

The funding for employer insurance is perhaps the most convoluted, because the government’s role in paying the bill is the least transparent. But those premiums are also subsidized by taxpayers. Because employer coverage is excluded from payroll and income taxes, it is effectively purchased at around a 30 percent discount on average.

Not a good look for the Dims. :(

The shutdown hasn't affected me.

Democrats said they opposed the G.O.P. measure because it would hand President Trump wide latitude to pick and choose which workers receive compensation while the government is shuttered.
Gee, "Democrats said" That's a source. not. Why would I trust the veracity of that with the democrats' record. RME. Try again Dainty--as usual this one FAILS.

44 democrat NO votes to the CR is how the democrats get the blame. Glad I could clear that up for you.

Let me remind you. The republicans are in charge of the budget.

Why didn't they write a budget bill? (actually about 12 budget bills)

What are the 12 Appropriations Subcommittees?
And why didn't they produce the bills to fund the government?

May I remind you of how you people-of-the-cult swallow everything so easily?

'deplorables?' Refers to Hillary Clinton.

What did Clinton actually say, and how has it been framed and mixed in the warm-diarrhea-in-a-Dixie-cup you people so wantonly crave?

Here are Clinton's full remarks, per reporter Ruby Cramer at Buzzfeed:
"I know there are only 60 days left to make our case — and don't get complacent, don't see the latest outrageous, offensive, inappropriate comment and think well he's done this time. We are living in a volatile political environment.

"You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump's supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right? [Laughter/applause]. The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic — you name it. And unfortunately there are people like that. And he has lifted them up. He has given voice to their websites that used to only have 11,000 people, now have 11 million. He tweets and retweets offensive, hateful, mean-spirited rhetoric. Now some of those folks, they are irredeemable, but thankfully they are not America.

"But the other basket, the other basket, and I know because I see friends from all over America here. I see friends from Florida and Georgia and South Carolina and Texas, as well as you know New York and California. But that other basket of people who are people who feel that government has let them down, nobody cares about them, nobody worries about what happens to their lives and their futures, and they are just desperate for change. It doesn't really even matter where it comes from. They don't buy everything he says but he seems to hold out some hope that their lives will be different. They won't wake up and see their jobs disappear, lose a kid to heroine, feel like they're in a dead-end. Those are people we have to understand and empathize with as well."

Hillary herself did what Trump rarely does: Clinton says ‘deplorables’ comment was ‘grossly generalistic’

Latino Opinion: Opinion: Hillary is Wrong. 100 Percent of Trump Voters are Deplorable

Hillary Clinton’s ‘deplorables’ speech shocked voters five years ago — but some feel it was prescient

STFU. You're ignorance couldn't be more clearly exhibited than this post does. Here's some free advice, educate yourself before making a fool of yourself in the future.

You did know this would turn on the major issue of the shutdown -- healthcare?

Dimocraps, demand capitulation always. The GOPers have bowed down so many times, conceding everything while getting nothing in return. This turning of the tables must have them flabbergasted.

I like the change, I may not like very much the GOPers plans, but I like the sudden testicular growth.

I only wish that this was more shutdown and less kabuki theater.

Johnson already said they were running just a little late on the 12 appropriations bills.

Johnson also signaled in a press conference Tuesday that Congress might need a new stopgap, recognizing that funding the government through Nov. 21 might not provide enough time for appropriators to finish up full-year appropriations.

The House has moved to go to a conference negotiation with the Senate to negotiate three of the 12 regular appropriations bills

Kudos. You know which democrat is responsible for this divisive rhetoric. There is hope for you. Very little, but hope just the same.

I think that is what is commonly known as 'back pedaling' a STUPID comment.
This reply is another failed attempt to justify actions by the democrats that you claimed were what republicans do. Now maybe you'll grasp what democrat 'projection' is. The rest of the thinking world already knows.

That little DOGE party at the first of the year was so beneficial to tens of thousands of government employees.

Did you get that from Mother Jones or did you pull that out your ass....Same difference I guess. :laughing0301:
According to the latest survey of more than 1,300 registered voters by the respected Quinnipiac poll, it's a close call overall, with 45% blaming the Republicans and 39% pointing to the Democrats.

If you look past the partisan voters and narrow in on declared independents, the gap mushrooms with 48% holding the GOP accountable compared with 32% blaming Democrats.

The poll's gender gap is bad news for the Republicans, with women blaming them by a 15-point margin while men are 5% more likely to blame the Democrats.

"Terrible poll for Republicans"

"It's a terrible poll for the Republicans," said Tim Malloy, a Quinnipiac poll analyst. "You do wonder what's going on in the back rooms - if there are back rooms - about how to right this ship. To some extent Trump and the party are on their heels."

Just keep doubling down. I told you once, here it is again. EDUCATE YOURSELF.
