Really? Is that why Reagan and Bush had more than Obama? Both Reagan and Bush used government hiring to help recover from recessions - but Obama was not allowed by Republican obstruction.

Hold on. I thought military , police, and fire lean right . Aren't those government jobs ?

Police and fire are local decisions paid from state and local funds and it is not the governor who opens up new positions but cities, counties an municipalities..and definitely not the Federal Administration. Nice try though....

How does the Democratic Party create jobs? By making government bigger. The party is clueless as to the importance of a working man putting bread on the table for his family through hard work and not welfare. Democrats need "victims."

I thought the military was mostly Republican.

Last Republican president increased the size of govt and increased spending while cutting taxes, running up the national debt.

At one time government jobs were the spoils of victory. It was not just federal jobs but state jobs, county and school district jobs. After an election the teaching staff at a school might be entirely replaced by others of the winning party.
Attempts were made to stop these practices, Civil Service for federal jobs, and a form of civil service for state and county jobs. Teaching jobs were protected by tenure. The practice continues today but on a reduced scale.
