The nation went into decline when Reagan started transferring all of the wealth of the nation, to the top 10% of wealthy Americans, and worker wages starting stagnating, due to the refusal of Republicans to increase the national minimum wage.

Your current economic problems are all related to the national debt created by giving the ultra wealthy tax cuts they don't need, on the national credit card. If you take out the deficits created and/or increased by Republican tax cuts, you would have zero national debt.

Canada’s average salary is lower than the US. Consumer buying power in Canada is less than the US. The potential for higher income is much higher in the US. I will grant you that many of our major blue cities can be dumps, but there are plenty of other places to live.

As a side note, the weather in much of the US is far better than Canada. That is out of their control, but just another reason why Canada is inferior.
