It ends with a line better suited to a mob movie than a major political party: “If you do not vote this year, we will be interested to hear why not.”

I got a very similar, if not the exact same letter in the mail yesterday. Mine didn't contain any threats or shame whatsoever in the letter, it did ask if I was going to vote. Does anybody have a link to the actual letter so I can determine if this "threat" jazz is legit or just overzealous pearl clutching?

Um, The committee — chaired by former Gov. David Paterson — defended the scare tactic, calling it standard practice throughout the country. Sounds pretty legit to me.

Paterson did not call it a scare tactic, the author of the article did. I would love to see the actual letter instead of the Post's interpretation of the letter. I am wondering if the letter contained any threats or not because I got a similar letter and it did no such thing.

Thanks for the link mate. That is pretty similar to the letter I received and I am still not seeing a threat. My letter said it was aware that I voted during the previous election and asked if I would be voting again. It said they may call afterwards to ask about my experience. I am not sure how they are going to do that because I don't have a home phone.

And party reference should be eliminated from ballots, as should early voting.
