Democrats Promised a High Speed Rail for California Running by 2012

It is the one party that is entrenched like a cancer here in California that has been running and controlling this High Speed Fail scam from the very beginning, swindling taxpayers out of hundreds of billions of dollars, and giving us nothing back in return for it. The very same corrupt party that you support.

Not one segment of track has been laid, not one piece of rolling stock ordered or acquired. At this point, no sane, rational person believes that this High Speed Fail system will ever carry so much as one paying passenger from anywhere to anywhere; yet the criminals who run this scam continue to steal from us.

I think no better illustration exists of just how deeply corrupt and kleptocratic the modern Democrapic party truly is, than this.

I bet you those same idiots complain that the border wall costs too much. And amazingly even an unfinished border wall is more effective than the (ahem) H.S. rail system in California with all the billions they have dumped.
Liberal logic on display.

About 150mpsh is the benchmark for HS rail in most of the world.

China has one line that runs at up to 250mph but then the Chinese couldn't really care less how many people they kill.

There are several more running at, above, or close to 200mph. I don't think that would fly in the US though.

Unless I am mistaken, the subject here is AMERICAN high-speed rail.

High-speed rail in the US is simply economically unfeasible. That is not debatable.

The problem there is also the density. Going to have a hard time maintaining high speed making a bunch of stops.
The Acela line has been up and running for many years.

Acela operates along routes that are used by freight and slower regional passenger traffic, and reaches the maximum allowed speed of the tracks only along some sections, with the fastest peak speed along segments between Mansfield, Massachusetts and Richmond, Rhode Island. Acela trains use active tilting technology, which helps control lateral centrifugal force, allowing the train to travel at higher speeds on the sharply curved NEC without disturbing passengers.[9] The high-speed operation occurs mostly along the 226-mile (364 km) route from Pennsylvania Station in New York City to Union Station in Washington, D.C., with a fastest scheduled time of 2 hours and 45 minutes and an average speed of 82 miles per hour (132 km/h), including time spent at intermediate stops.[3][10] Over this route, Acela and the Northeast Regional service captured a 75% share of air/train commuters between New York and Washington in 2011, up from 37% in 2000.[11]

Democrats destroy everything they touch.
Must be Trump's fault.

If you're considering such a project it's a really good idea to look at the HS rail systems already running in other countries to get an idea of what problems and issues you're most likely to face in your own country.

Even if we forget about the rest just to cover the initial building costs at 200.00 per ticket you'd need something like 250,000,000 riders.

Long before you could ever reach that number you're going to have to rebuild the tracks and especially the bridges numerous times not to mention having to replace the train itself every few years.

It couldn't pay for itself in a thousand years.

And it only reaches the 150mp mark on a single 40 mile stretch along the 450mi route.

Like I said, with that kind of population density it's very difficult to maintain high speeds.

It wasn’t even fully approved until 2012

This is video showing the actual plan........the democrats don't care if it works..........

It doesn't matter if it works........the part of the conversation where they admit that things don't have to work, they just need a product to generate government contracts is at the 1:30 mark...

But a lot of politicians and bureaucrats are suddenly rich.
No shock that in 2015 Richard Bloom won a nearly ONE BILLION DOLLAR contract from the California High-Speed Rail system. Who is Richard Bloom you ask? Why surprise, surprise, he is the husband of NANCY FEINSTEIN. I know, I too am simply stunned! :D

You are mistaken, Richard Bloom is an assemblyman from Santa Monica, 50th district. Diane Feinstein's husband is Richard Blum who died in Feb. Different people. However, Richard Blum did win a first phase contract for CAs high speed rail.

To be fair, those air fares are highly subsidized by the casinos and it is not out of the realm of possibility that the rail passage would be as well.
We'd better hope so. WIth no cost overruns it's projected to cost 8bn. At 200.00 per ticket it would take 40,000,000 just to pay off the initial costs of building it.

For their donors of course.
