Likely 90-something percent, the vast majority of them black, then Hispanic, then 'other.'

Hmm? Good point PatekPhilippe. I do not support this action by the Democrats though. Forcing fellow Americans in our Military to police the city is just wrong. It would put our Guardsmen in a very uncomfortable and dangerous position. What happens when one is forced to shoot & kill? The Socialists/Progressives really are over-reaching on this one. Par for the course for them at this point though. It really is very sad.

With white blue-collar Dem voters a lot of it has to do with the patronage job system, thousands and thousands of city jobs in the police and fire depts, streets and sanitation, and countless other city depts. And it's not just the city workers but their extended families too. Gotta vote the machine so brother/cousin/uncle/aunt/dad/mom/son/sister/in-law so-and-so's job is safe. When you extrapolate it out that way it quickly becomes a very huge block of votes.

Same is true with black Dems but to a much lesser extent as they don't get many of the available city job slots. Many of the rest get bought off, directly or indirectly. The machine boys spread the money around to the few elected blacks who in turn get out the word to be sure and support the machine's candidates, black and white. And a lot of the vote money gets handed out to the many black revs/ministers in the hood. Go by any black church in Chicago the Sunday before an election and they'll be stirring up the flock from the pulpit to support the mighty machine.

I am very optimistic about -- about Iraq. I mean, this could be one of the great achievements of this administration. You're going to see 90,000 American troops come marching home by the end of the summer. You're going to see a stable government in Iraq that is actually moving toward a representative government.

I don't know why there is a problem in Chicago? Mayor Daley has out lawed all the legal citizens from owning guns for years. It is also illegal to fire a gun in the county of Cook. What we need is more laws taking the guns away from all the citizen of Illinois, this would make the state so much safer for the criminals so when they are robbing and assaulting the citizens they won't get shot.
