The 1993 Budget was $1.4 trillion in spending and $1.15 trillion in revenue.
The 1999 Budget was $1.7 Trillion in spending and $1.83 Trillion in revenue.

And that was with the so-called "Peace Dividend," where military spending was drastically cut during the 1990s.

The ONLY reason why the deficit went down was because with the awesome Clinton Economy, revenues increased, and Clinton was making the rich pay their fair share.
