I used to bowl with a guy who called himself "Gunner." By conventional standards he was a terrible bowler; his average was in the mid-120's. But the lanes where I bowl have a speedometer that indicates the speed of the ball as it approaches the pins, and Gunner was always trying to set a new personal record with his speed. While he certainly wasn't missing pins on purpose, his main thrust was throwing the ball as hard as he could. So at the end of an evening of bowling, "we" might be talking about who won how many games, Gunner would say things like, "Hey, I hit 22mph on that last shot!" So in a sense he was playing a different game than we were, so we couldn't judge him by the same standards as everyone else.

And so it is with Democrat and Republican politics on a national level in the U.S.

The Republicans are telling their constituents that they are doing their best to make the U.S. government function as the Founders intended, limiting the Fed's powers and spending money on those functions that are appropriate for the Federal Government, respecting our borders, keeping the Armed Forces strong, keeping taxes relatively low, and that sort of thing.

Democrats are telling their constituents that they are trying to accumulate a horse-choking grab bag of wonderful benefits, all paid for by the taxpayers, and all spread out about the fruited plain to everyone in need of anything imaginable. They are going to get student loans cancelled, get inexpensive housing for those in need, get "free" healthcare to everyone who wants it, and make life "comfortable" for every sort of sexual irregular that one can imagine...while saving the planet at the same time.

Democrats can't understand why anyone would vote for Republicans, because Republicans don't strive to massively distribute government benefits to their constituents, or why anyone would vote for a party that has policies that might even cost them as individual citizens.

Republicans can't understand why anyone would vote for a party that promiscuously gives away taxpayer-funded goodies to people who don't really need them, and whose main programs are plainly unconstitutional. Let alone a party that seeks to flood the country with tens of millions of needy illegals from shit-hole countries.

Right now, the Democrats' problem is not "losing the message war," it's that their control of government has resulted in horrific deficits, an intrusive Federal Government, and failure after failure in domestic and foreign initiatives. Worse, the goodies that they are tossing around have come to be considered THE NORM; people EXPECT THEM, and don't give the politicians any credit for giving them what they feel like they deserve in the first place. They think they are going to buy themselves forty-one million votes by canceling (or promising to cancel) student debt, but this generation has been told that for so long that they think they are entitled to have their student loans cancelled.

The Republicans' basic message for 2022 is, "Give us a chance; we can't possibly fuck things up as badly as Biden and the Democrat Congress have!"

And that might be enough.

Messaging is just another word for jive. It's rarely true. So it should follow that Democrats would be superior at it. So I'm not buying this messaging problem. The Democrat's biggest problem is that the media is having a harder time keeping people in the dark. That's why Biden is attempting to create a dept. of disinformation to deprive people of their free speech rights. Democrats are evil.

As a left leaning Independent, I take no joy in announcing this, but it's time to face an unpleasant fact:

No matter if you love him or hate him, few will argue that Donald Trump was pretty good at getting his message out. His message frequently made peoples blood boil, but no one would accuse Trump of being camera shy. Unfortunately, Joe Biden's low key, plodding persona, and (less than) dynamic speeches have slowly eroded his popularity and poll numbers to dismal levels. It's no secret that Republicans will slam Biden, no matter what he does (even if he occasionally backs policies once supported by Trump) but now even swing voters are turning against Biden, and by extension, Democratic candidates. In today's political world where messaging is more important than policy, intellect, logic or even sanity, the Democrats need a new messenger, and badly. The one they now have is losing the message war.

Messaging is just another term for lies and misinformation. They are losing the messaging war because of runaway inflation. No matter what their message is, people are paying higher and higher prices and you can't message that away. It's a rock hard solid truth, no matter how many lies and misinformation you spread.
