The issue going forward though is that you cannot have federal police taking over every city. If this occurs, what is the need for a municipal police force? You might as well just have the military employed across America, which would in essence, make them an occupying force.

In this case the crime in D.C. had gotten so rampant as to seriously endanger the general public and the local law enforcement, DA's, and Judges so feckless as to just keep releasing actual violent offenders without bond, so that the criminals could just keep creating more and more victims, that it became necessary for the federal government to take somewhat similar steps that were taken back in 1992.
This measure to regain control, just as in 1992, is temporary. If one listens to the honest, law-abiding citizens, black, white, Asian and Latino alike, they are applauding what is being done. The ones complaining are the Marxist left, the criminals and their friends and families who side with them. Felons with stolen firearms are being taken off the streets, as are the illegal drug dealers. Under Trump's executive order, cashless bond is now over. If you commit a violent crime, there's a major bond and if you can't afford it, you stay in jail until your trial and if convicted, you will go back to jail or prison, which is a good thing.
