Rep. Al Green, a Texas Democrat, was ejected from President Donald Trump’s address to a joint session of Congress Tuesday.
Green stood in the aisle early in Trump’s speech and shouted that Trump had “no mandate.” Speaker Mike Johnson ordered him removed from the chamber.
Green told reporters after leaving that chamber that “It’s worth it to let people know that there are some people who are going to stand up” to Trump.
“I’m willing to suffer whatever punishment is available to me,” he added. “Whatever the punishment is, I’m not fighting the punishment.”
