Pay more and get less. It seems that this is every American airliner these days. I took two one-hour flights on Thai Airways a few years back and the service was heads and tails better than any American airliner. The staff served a complete meal with desert and coffee.

Deregulation was supposed to make air travel better. While it did open up air travel to more people at a lower price, we greatly sacrificed service and comfort to achieve it.

Same here, just a month ago. Delta partners with Korean Air, leaving Chicago, Korean Air is like any American carrier, leaving Korea, Korean Air is first class all the way. American companies just don't care, I think this attitude is partly the result of all the low class people people they have to deal with.

The snack & drink service is a joke and a distraction. The best solution would be to sell snacks and drinks at the gate, in packaging that makes cleanup easy and quick, and let us fend for ourselves.
/---/ I remember in the late 90s an airlines did exactly that. They had a table with prepacked meals/snacks. And the passengers picked one up as they boarded. Seemed to work ok, but I never saw it again.

It sure did.
I absolutely HATE air travel now. No service. Stupid TSA baloney. Lousy seats. Completely full flights. I get claustrophobic easily and flying triggers it more than anything. If I never flew again, I'd be fine with it. But driving from Ohio to Alaska, where my wife wants to go, is one helluva drive.

I prefer cheaper with no frills. I don't need a meal that costs a fortune, I can bring my own.

I flew Thai Airlines once, it was okay, better than some.

The purple color scheme is the best, the only other I know of who had the same was Virgin airlines, which was the best flight experience I had on an airline, the leather seats, for one thing. I don't think they exist anymore but don't know

I thought Virgin was red. I haven't flown with them for 25 years or more though.

Menus tend to be in a magazine and you can order and buy hot food. We never bother because it's ridiculously priced. The furthest/longest we go is a 4 1/2 hour flight, so we wouldn't bother anyhow.

I could care less if they raised prices to the moon....Expired passport and no little star on my DL.
It's bad for business. Travel generates tons of GDP whether you are a homebody or not.

Buy upgrades if you want more room or food. I personally always bring a post-TSA beverage with me on flights and usually decline anything from the flight attendants on short flights, and don't mind the economy seats on the short routes. On longer flights, I will buy the economy upgrades just to be at the front and occasionally, if offered, bid on unsold first-class/business seats. I just hate being stuck toward the rear of the plane because you never know if they will open that rear door to exit, and when they don't, it takes forever to get off the plane.

I like to be towards the front. It allows me to get off quicker and Run to my next flight as I always book them too close.

Well that too. I have one coming up with a 50 minute layover in Iceland. I am in the front row of the first leg. If I were in the back of a 737, I maybe wouldn't be able to make the connecting flight home. KEF's international terminal is small though so even a mad dash from one gate to another shouldn't take 10 minutes.

I don't mind flying in Asia, but the US and Europe are pretty horrid. Have been for decades now.

Every aspect of everything involving flying in the West is terrible.

From the fat, angry, middle-aged air hostesses/jail guards to security, to the nickel and diming, to the dilapidated, crowded airports and planes.
It's all shit. Every second, every bit.

I've been flying since the prop plane era of the late 1950s.
It's gone from an enjoyable experience to sheer torture.
I hate flying anymore. Every single aspect of it. The lousy, cramped seats. The stupid TSA lines. The lack of service. Nasty, rude passengers. Overbooked flights.
It just sucks. If I can drive somewhere, I take the car now.
