Deep Fake technology is rising rapidly. Soon, videos will be able to be produced that will show a person saying things they never said, but lifelike and totally believable at initial viewing.

So once the technology achieves this state, which could easily be within the next 5 to 10 years... will the era of video proof cease? If people cane produce absolute forgeries of their political opponents saying horrible things... won't it cause a new norm of refusing the trust any sort of video evidence?

Its crazy what consequences come of this.

I predict they’ll just develop some sort of technology that roots out and exposes deep fakes.

It will be introduced in the 2024 elections to provide "evidence" ... especially in late October ... of some scandal a presidential candidate was involved with .. guarantee .

Counterfactuals only come into play when facts are presented in most places. 1/2 of the US--the side whose candidate lost the 2020 Presidential election--refuses to deal with reality so it won't matter if you had 70,000 certifications of something being truthful....they won't believe it unless they want to. Put another way, the only facts they will ever accept are the ones that confirm their xenophobia, bigotry, and what they were told.

That's one of the downsides of Artificial Intelligence. We're quickly becoming a technocracy, where the government or control of society or industry is being ran by an elite of technical experts.

If true retractions existed, it'd be less of a worry. But we've seen what the NYT, CNN, MSNBC, etc. do to their political opponents, and how quickly something can go viral if spread by them even though it is false. So what if someone makes a perfect deep fact of Trump saying something horrendous on a fake video, and it gets 5 million views within 2 days.... are we to expect these people will seek out the retraction? Or, will their perspective be completely skewed? I'd bet the latter.

Reality is one person every 7 minutes dying of Fentanyl poisoning. Reality is the drug cartels making $30 million dollars A DAY by shipping illegal immigrants, sex trafficking and smuggling drugs through the wide open border. Reality is China launched a global pandemic and the WHO/NIH/CDC and the Democrats have covered it up. I could list about 50 more realities that "your side" happily ignores.

Someone will just develope software that detects fakes. Soon there will be a "deep fake detector" website where you can double check photos and videos.

That is my prediction anyway. :dunno:

There are people who believe he has a double or something more to that. And at times his whole personality is different. He is freaky looking like the puppet. his wife is around him a lot when he signs some legislation and that makes you wonder. He made people poorer. And he failed them for others gains.

You mean that video we see of one presidential candidate walking on the surface of Mars while the other candidate has sex with a horse is fake?
