Dec. 7th Today & No Mention of Japs' Attack on Pearl Harbor

I just scrolled though the most recent 100 OPs of Foreign Affairs and Latest Political News & Current Events and found not ONE single OP about the Japs attacking Pearl Harbor in 1941, killing almost 3000 Americans and sinking numerous US Navy ships, on THIS DAY, December 7th.

Sure it was 82 years ago, but July 4th 1776 was longer ago than that, and we dont forget it. Especially in light of the fact that extreme overconfidence played a part in allowing the attacking Japs to violate our airspace, after being picked up on radar (the attack could/should have been prevented, or at least well fought.

Now we have Hamas and the whole Uhmma shouting threats at us, the Mexican border is wide open (anybody can get in), and Oct 7 style attacks in US cities are possible, if not probable. Like the foolish naval officer who brushed off a radar specialist's warnings, these nonchalanters are heading in the same direction.

That’s because the attack on Pearl Harbor against Americans has parallels to the (much more barbaric and savage) attack on Israel by HAMAS on October 7th.

America fought back when it was attacked, without having an ally pressure them to ”go easy” and “let up” on the enemy - as Biden et al is telling Israel.

It varies by degrees. Some say that the US allowed the attack, provoked the attack, the attack wasn’t that serious--not serious enough to declare war; some even say the US was behind the attack.

These people are ridiculed just like the holocaust deniers, 9/11 truthers, and the folks who believe the big lie from 2020.

As for a percentage, the “true believers” who think there was no attack is in the low single digits. As you get more vague about “the truth” the percentage grows.
I'd love to read your article that highlights this statistic

War should not be glorified.
The US has started every war we have been in since 1812.
With Japan, we illegally sanctioned food, oil, steal, coal, etc.
We treated them badly as WWI allies.
We should not have been in Hawaii, Vietnam, the Philippines, Korea, etc.
Wrong, we did not start WW1 or 2. WW2 is the last justifiable war, imo, that we were involved in.

  • Operation Enduring Freedom (Iraq/Afghnistan) was justifiable - would you sit back after 9/11 and do nothing ?
  • What about al Qaeda in Iraq, and Zarqawi ? (morphed into ISIS
  • What about the Pakistani nukes ? No problem with that ?

Oh of course I would have done something but I would have used Iraq as a hedge against Iran.

There is an alternate history that the globalists of the time orchestrated W 1 the Great Depression and WW 2. Pushed and cajoled until thing happened. Once they got the Fiat Currency in 1913 here it opened the doors to using the wealth of the United States to help achieve their goals.

WWII was a war to defend the Soviet Union. Americans should be pissed that we were conned into it.

At 77, with lots of VA health care, I'm aiming to live to 100. 23 more years, having been born right after the end of World War 2, as a young boy, I sat on many a World War 2 veteran's lap (they were young guys then), while listening to their personal war stories, and admiring their military tattoos on thier arms.

The World War 2 vets may be gone (mostly), but the kids of the post-war era live on and will for some time to come. World War 2 is not forgotten one bit, and is a current event every year on December 7th ("a day that will liv in infamy").
The real infamy is that FDR goaded the Japanese into attacking the US to justify entry into the war to defend his fellow communist Stalin.

I still remember the afternoon of December 7th, 1941.
Today is my father's birthday he would be 109 years old.
That Sunday is written indelibly in my mind.
Four of my cousins including my father served and fought during WWII.
Yes. Japan bombed Peral Harbor. whether its was a sneak attack or not they attack America and paid the price in the end.
The attack on 911, was not a one off and there will be others in the future.
12/7 and 9/11 were both attacks on American soil that were allowed to happen in order to justify wars that would never get popular support otherwise.

Then you would have to blame Democrats for their whimsical foreign policy actions. Both instances were the culmination of Democrat decisions.

Clinton elected in 1992 and Al Qaeda attacked in 2001.
Throughout the Clinton administration he did nothing to stop terrorist attacks. it began in 1993 with the first bombing of the twin towers, the Khobar bombing-1996, two East African bombings-1998, USS Cole bombing -2000

There comes a point in time when so many years have passed, that it just fades into history. Almost everyone who was a part of that era, are dead and Japan is an ally and has been for decades. The Revolutionary War comes up on July 4th, because it was the founding of our nation, but we don't go into a big deal about the War of 1812 (outside of Baltimore), or the Mexican American War, or the Spanish-American War. Societies/Nations move on from their histories, it's just a fact of life. No need keep bringing up old wounds, especially as Japan is so intertwined with us as an ally.

You sound like the guys who are saying Hamas had no choice but to attack Israel.

:dunno:

I disagree that "Almost everyone who was a part of that era, are dead". While it may be true that people who were adults during World War 2 are now dead, It's also true that people who were kids in the immediate postwar period (1946-1953) are now baby boomers and are alive, though aging.

We remember those postwar years of extreme patriotism, and the great friendships we had with World War 2 veterans (who were young back then) as they told us of their war experiences. I keep the attack on Pearl Harbor, as well as D-Day, the Battle of the Bulge, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, etc, in mind as much now as I did in 1952. Havent lost a step.

No, I've never made a statement like that.
In fact Israel has every right to expel Palestinians and make Gaza a parking lot because of the attack by the Hamas terrorist attack massacring over 1000 Israeli's and holding hostages.
