"ABC News intends to mute the microphones of Donald Trump and Kamala Harris while their opponent speaks during an upcoming presidential debate, according to a copy of the formal rules obtained by CNN, but the Harris campaign is continuing to push back on the final sticking point."

tell us again, donkeys, which one is afraid to debate?

Yahoo pulled this from CNN, so the wording and presentation is a bit anti-Trump, however, it is informative.

ABC presidential debate rules show microphones will be muted, but Harris camp is still pushing back

". . . The Harris campaign has publicly pushed for the microphones to remain unmuted throughout the event, needling Trump over the issue in a statement earlier this week.

Both candidates have publicly made clear their willingness to debate with unmuted mics for the duration of the debate to fully allow for substantive exchanges between the candidates - but it appears Donald Trump is letting his handlers overrule him. Sad!”

But behind the scenes, the Trump campaign continued to advocate for the rules they had already agreed to with ABC News. The formal list of debate rules was sent to the Trump campaign on Tuesday and was accepted by the campaign. According to a person familiar with matter, the Trump campaign expected ABC to publish the formal announcement that both candidates had accepted the debate rules earlier this week.

In addition to the muted microphones, the 90-minute debate will not feature a live audience. ABC has agreed to allow other television networks to simulcast the event, which will include two commercial breaks. A coin flip will determine podium placement and order of closing statements.

The candidates won’t be allowed to have any notes on stage with them or visit with campaign staff during breaks.

There will be two minutes given for answers, and two minutes for rebuttals with one minute for follow ups. The candidates also cannot ask questions of one another."

It sounds as if they want to be able to interrupt him and they don't have confidence she can stay on point with clarity.

Interesting.

Facts are not on your side -- yet again, and again, and again:

Former President Donald Trump appeared to undercut his campaign’s efforts to keep the same rules in place for his debate against Vice President Kamala Harris next month.

Trump’s team, according to a source familiar with the matter, would like for the microphones to be muted throughout the debate except for the candidate whose turn it is to speak, as was the case during the first debate with President Joe Biden.

But while Trump took aim at what he called the “biased” network Sunday evening – complaining about reporter Jonathan Karl and a panel of “Trump Haters” on his Truth Social platform – he said Monday that he would prefer the mics to stay on.

. . . and I don't have a "side," you nincompoop.

The only thing I am interested in, are the facts. If you bleev facts are NOT on yoar side? Pick a new side.

He also said he didn't want to have any debates on networks he didn't believe are fair. . . and yet? You aren't making a stink about that. The guy makes an offhand comment, and you want there to be some sort of controversy, there is none. The establishment is just desperate, and after that highly selective and edited CNN interview with that nincompoop Kamala? I can certainly understand why.

". . . Trump later told reporters Monday that he hoped to move forward with the same rules as the June debate, but “it doesn’t matter to me, I’d rather have it probably on.”

“But the agreement was that it would be the same as it was last time. In that case, it was muted,” Trump told reporters at a stop in Northern Virginia. “I didn’t like it the last time but it worked out fine. I mean, ask Biden how it worked out — it was fine.
And I think it should be the same.”

Fallon posted on social media a clip of Trump’s brief Monday comments, taking it as an agreement to have the mics on, though the Trump campaign has not made it official.

“Always suspected it was something his staff wanted, not him personally. With this resolved, everything is now set for Sept 10th,” he wrote on X.. . . "

TRUMP says he doesn't care about the mics. His campaign understand agreeing to 1 rule change will leave open more changes. Harris is the one who pressed on keeping the original agreed upon debate with Biden so she has no case to change the rules. The rule changes her campaign is trying to negotiate show they know she sucks at debates.
The debate is why she hasn't released policy because she would have to much to try and remember.

Nope, they want him to interrupt her so they can paint him as trying to bully a "woman of color". He shouldn't buy into their game. He should stay quiet and eat her lunch on policy.

.

Trump: You can mute the mics all you want, I'll still win the debate regardless.

Fake News Inc: Orange porn star rapist man wants mic to be muted.

Her entire campaign is laughable.

I wonder if any intellectually honest left leaners on here are starting to doubt the irrational exuberance they've been spoonfed by the out of touch compromised corporate media, regarding her astro turf candidacy.

Regardless, only 66 days til reality hits hard.

I just hope that the debate questions are all policy related, requiring an in-depth response, so we know what policies each candidate is promoting and why.

I'm not sure we are being told the truth here. ABC seems to have put their foot down in making it appear they are not pawns of Kamala Harris with the mike thing. But, maybe it's all just show to make it appear they are being fair and unbiased if Kamala Harris doesn't really care if the mikes are muted. I can see them saying behind closed doors, we'll make it look like Trump won with the mike thing when you really don't care and then tell her not to worry because they've got her back in the questioning and fact checking.

I don't ever watch Trump's rallies, they bore me.

OTH? Most of his one-on-one sit down conversations in long form podcasts, I have caught.

In one of them, I don't remember which one, he has already stated that she will have the advantage, as they will just pull another "Donna Brazil," and give her the questions like they did with Hillary.

A lot of folks believe that Joe knew all the questions to practice, before that last debate. It would not surprise me if that were true.
