The story was bogus and Rather didn't bother to verify it's accuracy because he was in a big hurry to run with the story. He made a fool out of himself and his career ended with him being exposed as a lying hack instead of a respected journalist. He got what he deserved. The movie is as bogus as the story he tried to derail Bush's candidacy with.
