SARASOTA, FL (WWSB) – Planned Parenthood is hoping to make life a little bit easier for the transgender community. They are now offering transgender hormone replacement therapy for those under the age of 18. Planned Parenthood now offering transgender hormone therapy to those under 18
Except there's a problem:
Professional standards of care are being promulgated that state children should receive puberty-blocking drugs at as young as age 9, and cross-sex hormones at age 16—but there have been no controlled clinical trials on puberty blocking for gender dysphoria, and the Food and Drug Administration has not approved these drugs for treatment of gender dysphoria.New Paper Says Puberty Blockers Aren’t the Answer to Gender Confusion
We have prosecuted Nazi war criminal doctors for less invasive experimentation on kids in Jewish death camps.
...the used of puberty blockers to treat transgender children is what's considered an "off label" use of the medication- something that hasn't been approved by the Food and Drug Administration....We do know that there is some decrease in bone density during treatment with pubertal suppression...there isn't enough research on is whether someone who was on puberty blockers will regain all their bone strength, or if they might be at risk for osteoporosis in the future...Another area where doctors say there isn't enough research is the impact that suppressing puberty has on brain development.. When Transgender Kids Transition, Medical Risks are Both Known and Unknown
They also have been listed as the WHO as known carcinogens that basically guarantee cancer at some point in the child's life.
Discuss. Want to take bets that even though this is a breaking topic in current events, that it will be dungeoned into the "health and lifestyle" quicksand?
