Critics see Trump attacks on the 'Black Smithsonian' as an effort to sanitize racism in US history

Well of course folks who are on the giving end of racism and discrimination really don't care that much about it.

Wow. YOu just forgot your own question, that I was responding to.

LOL.

Or are you just playing dumb to dodge dealing with my answer? Pretend, or real?

So, your counterpoint is that the pro-slavery faction wanted to count the slaves as "Full person"

and thus, those that wanted to count them as LESS where the ones that wanted to "keep them as slaves"....

That makes no sense. If BOTH sides, if everyone involved, wanted to keep them as slaves, then counting them as "Full people" would have been passed without comment.

Instead, they, the pro-slaver faction, was UNABLE to do that and had to take the hit of only counting them as PARTIAL people for the purpose of congressional power.

You could not bring yourself to be honest about the role of the ABOLITIONISTS of the time, in fighting against slavery from the very beginning of this country.

You ended up talking nosense, rather than give credit where it was due, because you can only focus on the NEGATIVES, of America.

As long as there are people like you in the system, we cannot have a nuanced, or serious discussion of slavery or other racial issues, because you LIE in order to advance "THE MESSAGE".

Better to purge it all. And certainly all the people like you.
Are you stupid or just a little slow today?

Slave states wanted them counted as a full person.
Not with the rights or protection of a full person but just to give them more political power in forcing slave laws.

Slaves should not have counted as a person at all for the purpose of assigning representatives in the House.
Those representatives did not represent the rights of those slaves but those who sought to keep them enslaved

And again, you are unable to even discuss the other side of the conflict.

This is why LEFTY history is not history but propaganda.

Because you are only interested in talking shit on AMERICA.

Not at all, I asked a question to black folks and a white man answers.

We're MAGA, both white and black. None of the black MAGA seems to want to speak to you, so I did so FOR my "brothers".

Andy you played dumb.

Damn ……are you ever ignorant of American History

You need to visit one of those museums that explain the role of slavery in this country…..before Trump shuts them down

And you are still unable to discuss the issue seriously or honestly.

IN the real world, the 3/5 compromise was the first shot, in the war on slavery.

Trump called them BLACK MAGA, they are your brothers as long as they stay in their place.

Their "place"?

Their place is MAGA, baby, just like me and Trump.

This is for you. And my "BLACK MAGA" brothers. And for ME TOO.

No, it was a surrender to the slave states that gave them more political power than was warranted.

Why did Slaves count as 3/5 while the Indian Population did not count at all?
Neither was considered human

How long will America have to self flagellate before we realize that slavery 150 years ago is being kept alive as a wedge issue?

How long will America have to self flagellate before we realize that slavery 150 years ago is being kept alive as a wedge issue?

How long ago was the American Revolution?
Slavery was our original sin

the American Revolution wasn't about Slavery...You do know that right?
Absolutely
Remember that “All men are created equal”?

That Revolution was an opportunity to end slavery once and for all. They kicked the can down the road
It eventually cost us 600,000 lives

‘Trump’s order accusing the Smithsonian Institution of not reflecting American history notes correctly that the country’s Founding Fathers declared that “all men are created equal.”

But it doesn’t mention that the founders enshrined slavery into the U.S. Constitution and declared enslaved persons as three-fifths of a person for the purpose of the Census.

Civil rights advocates, historians and Black political leaders sharply rebuked Trump on Friday for his order, entitled “Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History.” They argued that his executive order targeting the Smithsonian Institution is his administration’s latest move to downplay how race, racism and Black Americans themselves have shaped the nation’s story.

“It seems like we’re headed in the direction where there’s even an attempt to deny that the institution of slavery even existed, or that Jim Crow laws and segregation and racial violence against Black communities, Black families, Black individuals even occurred,” said historian Clarissa Myrick-Harris, a professor at Morehouse College, the historically Black campus in Atlanta.’

It doesn’t seem that way – that’s exactly what Trump is doing: to normalize and sanitize racism in American history, making racism acceptable today.

Yes, that has always been the objective of the white right wing. Racism never died.

And Trump has made it acceptable to express their bigotry out in the open.

It’s the thing the Trump cult really loves about him.

You would think that the dems would applaud the effort since they were the ones that Jim Crow laws, segregation, racial violence against black communities, black families, black individuals were perpetuated by.
Wrong century, Einstein. Try to keep up.

That building looks appropriately like a dumpster.
Unfortunately, it’s placed in a location where it conspicuously blocks the view of the Washington monument.
At 550 feet, it is hard to block
You can see it for miles
