Here is a wonderful example of how you cover things that are not happening in sports:
It's the story about a kid - a great amateur tennis player - who shunned interscholastic sports as he developed into a top amateur, then decided to play High School tennis just for fun, in his Senior year. The Covid thing killed the entire HS tennis season, so he never got a chance to play even a single match, although from all indications he would have won the state singles championship had the season played out.
Now THAT is creative sports coverage. A good story about something that never happened and will not ever happen.
Lost Season: Tennis phenom Loren Byers was ready to take WPIAL by storm
Loren Byers was expected to win the WPIAL and PIAA boys singles titles this year, even though he’d never even played a high school match.
