I have to laugh at all the threads closed because the OP failed to meet simple creation standards! What does that say of the OP? I mean, originally, they wanted THREE sentences by the OP and I guess that failed so it was lowered to JUST TWO. And to provide some link to the source if the thread touts the topic as fact and not opinion to show where you got this! And finally, to keep it clean and not incendiary or partisan. No name calling.

Apparently that is real hard for a lot of people, like calculus.

Racist.

meh. IIRC, the general leniency to those rules, tends to be more after an election.

While I myself have noticed some threads that are absolutely awful, most of it is just partisan celebrations and negative reactions to the election.

If it does not cool out after Trump's first 100 days, I'd say, yeah, there should be a crack down on threads in Zone 2 which are measured and found lacking.

Hitler.

You know it's worse to be Hitler than just a racist, right?

The line between opinion and fact is often blurred.....Links don't make facts these days.

I'm OK with just ending dupes and walls of text with no paragraphs. ;)

The problem I see is that there is an endless supply of baseless leftwing rhetoric articles online, most probably created just for the purpose of others linking to or quoting to spread nonsense, and most left-leaning OPs here then just link to one of these trash articles then tout it as fact to satisfy the OP.

I don't think that some folks who routinely OP in that way really care about the thread being locked. Why would they? Seems like there is, in my personal view, which I stress as solely my own, a certain darkness or mean-spirited, evil nature about some types who only care that they got their two sentences worth of conjecture or baiting material (often it's this) or whatever, thread gets closed but their post and their dumb TikTok video or snide remark or whatever all remains. And they know what they're doing. There's really only a couple who play like that, though.

It's like their own blog because people still read it, it never goes away, their pet social media channel gets its free traffic and there's no possibility for any dissent.

It's a win/win for them.

They should also delete those particular threads after closing them and that'll stop that dirty, rotten, filthy, stinking, underhanded hustle. It's not like a couple of more clicks to delete it are gonna break their backs. And it would certainly discourage it reoccurring so much since it's usually the same people who do it. They'll get the idea to knock it off eventually.

Of course, there's the non-evil, legit mess-ups in a lot of topical content, too, to be fair.

That's different than the dirty, rotten, filthy, stinking, underhanded outright hustle I mentioned about in the previous post.

The same trolls who start bait thread after bait thread in this fashion are the same ones who are always pro-mod whenever there is any discussion of mod bias.
