Obviously, I am older than you are. I spent many years around the globe and stayed in many countries with many different government types. I spent time in Warsaw which was considered a socialist communist country (although the least of either) in 1971 and then I spent time in Spain in 1972 which was the last of the Fascist led countries in the world.

Looking at Warsaw, when you drop the communist BS from the name and replace it with Democracy you end up what the majority of Europe is today. Well, the exception of France that is downright paranoid.

What a Representative Republic and a Social Democracy does is to walk a fine line using the benefits of social and corporate systems. The only difference would be how far one were to lean towards social programs and corporate profits. But this is the most operational way of doing a government. And America started it with it's representative republic.

Now, about Fascism. This is a point where corporate business far exceeds the social needs and it turns into a Dictatorship given time. The only exception to this was Franco of Spain who decided he wanted it to stay the way it was by the end of the Spanish Civil War. He was a malevolent Dictator which are far and few between. But that isn't to say Franco was a good person. He wasn't. Or at least his government wasn't. We were 2 minutes late (10:02 pm) getting back to our base when we got stopped by the Gendarmes (police). We had to stand and watch one of our group get beaten with clubs. To do otherwise would have meant quick death. The Gendarmes could kill without any regard to prosecution.

From the standpoint of the citizen, there wasn't one hell of a lot of difference between how they were treated by either the Social Communists and the Fascists. The only difference was, one is considered left wing and the other right wing.
