If we truly want to curb this pandemic, we have to standardize mitigation across all of the states. Having one state with no restrictions next door to one that has them is pointless unless each state closes its borders to all others. Impractical and bad for commerce.

This is the very thing that countries created a national government for. Playing like we're all our own little fiefdoms in the face of a virus like this is what's causing our skyrocketing cases and deaths.

You, like most, are completely leaving out the most obvious causation of higher case counts.... wait for it... more people are getting tested.
If you look at the charts showing # of tests per day since July, and compare to the number of cases...and what do you know??... they look a lot alike.
Also, what none of the fearmongers talk about... is unless you are quite old and/or have serious health issues... you will not only not die, but most likely will not get very sick. At all. Not much more than not feel well a few days and it's over. And now you are immune.
This virus is not what it was in April/May. The proof is in the pudding. As cases rise - the morbidity rates are falling.
