Covid 19 in nursing homes

We are in a situation that mirrors the early years of the AIDS pandemic. To review that time in its essence: We knew what it was; we knew how it was spread; we knew how to prevent its spread; and yet it was spreading like wildfire. Obviously, the people spreading it were ignoring the precautions that would have made them safe(r).

Now here we are, 9 months into the Covid 19 pandemic and we know (a) that sickly, elderly people are in great danger from this disease, and (b) how it spreads. Parenthetically, we are told that MASKS WORK!

And yet, day after day, the majority of Covid deaths are people in nursing homes. That not only means that they are deteriorating and dying, but THEY ARE CONTINUALLY BEING INFECTED, despite our knowledge of how infection occurs and how it can be prevented.

In other words, the geezers who died yesterday were infected - what? - last week or last month, or maybe even the month before that. But there is NO DOUBT whatsoever that they were infected AFTER "we" knew that they were vulnerable and how to prevent the spread of this virus.

For months we've been told that NO VISITORS can get into these nursing homes, and the people who work there are constantly screened, to prevent THEM from infecting the patients, and yet...the statistics point to a colossal failure to protect our most vulnerable population. They continue to be infected, day after day. Otherwise the daily death tolls would not be majority nursing home related.

Shouldn't nursing homes be quarantined? What's going on?

Maintained all along if you can't stop it's spread in a controlled environment, what hope do you have in a dynamic one.

A lot of people are still taking off their masks is the problem. If you go into a dental office, they still have people take off their masks and open their mouths.

The key in my view is use the other portals for dental work. Devise instruments that the dentist winds up through the other end of the alimentary canal and drill the teeth from the back side.

A lot more sanitary, as it eliminates the possibility of covid transmission.
