Couldn't remember who did the song

I was watching Black Hawk Down and as they are all leaving the base to start the mission a background song is playing. I knew I'd heard it before and in the back of my mind I suspected who it might be but I just couldn't nail down the artist. Finally it hit me, Voodoo Child by Jimmy Hendrix (and done much later by Stevie Ray Vaughn).

Both versions are great. Stevie Ray's cover is excellent, he captures the nuance and power of Jimi with his version.
