Cornell Antisemite rejects interview, proudly telling Jewish employer he won’t work for a Jew

I worked with a crew I hired because the work I did was heavy labor. I was a Mason. I never had one accident while working. I raised four kids and bought two houses and 43 acres with my earnings from being self-employed and retired five years ago. Now I am a real estate agent, and I still get high on my own homegrown supply in my home.
I figured you were a pothead. 🤣

He wasn't trying to play victim. He was stating the reason for his preference not to work for them. The fact that you advocate for turning someone into your victim because they don't share the same values as you do is precisely what is wrong with both sides of the political spectrum in this country.
He was absolutely playing the victim and shifting blame. He judged an entire group. You are OK with that? That's what is wrong with this country. Stereotypes and hate are condoned and defended.

Collect all the wounds you want. Other people's won't make you holy. It isn't healthy.

And you won't focus on the problematic statement. That makes every one of your posts a cop out.
Someone’s personal interaction is your personal problem. Collecting taxes to investigate personal interactions like this is a societal problem.

A student at Cornell applied for a summer internship, and then realized his would-be boss was Jewish. He was offered an interview by the Jewish boss, but rejected it with a scathing email saying he wouldn’t work for a Jew. Points of discussion:

1) We now seem to be in the run-up to the concentration camps of Nazi Germany, in which people felt free - even proud - to declare their hatred for Jews, and directly to their faces.

2) This disgusting attitude is more prevalent among students at far-left universities, where -supposedly - leftists are opposed to bigotry,

3) The antisemitic student who did this is majoring in Labor Relations, which includes the fight against prejudice and discrimination. What organization, other than maybe CAIR or a similar antisemitic group, would ever hire this Jew-hater?

Plattner probably didn't have much of a future at Cornell anyway.

Nor, incidentally, the US Senate.

he made his statement public

if someone is comfortable saying "I don't want to work for a Jew" then he should be comfortable with the consequences of that statement. He wants to claim he is a victim because he didn't want other people to know his decisions are driven by anti-Semitism. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

I can't compare the relative impact so I won't try. I appreciate what the employer did as it serves 2 purposes -- to teach younger people of the consequences of their actions, and to warn other employers that this person lets hate drive his decisions and would not be a good, professional choice for anyone. If someone applied to my workplace and refused the interview because he is an anti-Semite, I would certainly contact similar companies and caution them that they might want to stay far away from this applicant.

The owner is an instigator who does this for free advertising.

I never had bad experience with anybody of a different religion as the kid said he's experienced with Jews.
The only thing I can relate to is in seeking employment, I wouldn't go to a job interview on a Sunday either.

No, someone's personal hatred becomes society's problem. And that is whether or not it is investigated.

1. Prove hate.

And

2. Show how a private communication is everyone’s problem.

He reflects an attitude of rejection of an entire population. Here is a definition of hate in a judicial sense, "it usually denotes actions driven by prejudice or bias against individuals or groups based on their specific characteristic "

So, yeah, hate.

The problem is the stereotyping and invoking negative stereotypes to reject an enrltire group. If you don't see this as detrimental to society as a whole then I can't help you.

Democrats see this as courageous and standing up for one's beliefs.

Can you imagine the firestorm if the candidate said, "I refuse to work under a black person."

LOL. That’s hardly a definition of hate.

So what do you propose to do about it?

Not do it myself (or at least try and be self aware of when I slip up). Model that attitude and hope for the same from others.

So then why do you support a taxpayer funded investigation of the private communication between two people?

I don't think about the uses of my taxes in that sense. My taxes go to the continued running of government and various other things. I don't watch each one to see if I approve because I wouldn't approve of most of it. If I were to answer your question with a "no" then I would have to do a lot of investigating and take stands on every other specific case in which my taxes are being wasted. Instead, I just ignore it and focus on the socio-political ideas.

You don’t think about it? LOL. Think about it now.
