I am both a socialist and internationalist, which seems to put me in a very tiny minority in the US.

from wikipedia:

Internationalism is a political principle that advocates greater political or economic cooperation among states and nations. It is associated with other political movements and ideologies, but can also reflect a doctrine, belief system, or movement in itself.

Supporters of internationalism are known as internationalists and generally believe that humans should unite across national, political, cultural, racial, or class boundaries to advance their common interests, or that governments should cooperate because their mutual long-term interests are of greater importance than their short-term disputes.

Internationalism has several interpretations and meanings, but is usually characterized by opposition to nationalism and isolationism; support for international institutions, such as the United Nations; and a cosmopolitan outlook that promotes and respects other cultures and customs.

The term is similar to, but distinct from, globalism and cosmopolitanism.

Ivory tower people's thinking in the man's opinion. Any nation to survive must put its own needs first but also survive it cannot do it alone . The days of neutrality and isolationism are long past. To survive nations people must understand we live in a world of involvement and alliances. As Ukraine has found out. Does this mean world government is needed? No. but treaties and agreements on all things from Trade to mutual defense are a must.

Are you a US citizen?

Oh look, another leftist Ivy Leaguer (Harvard and Princeton no less) going on about how we need to live our lives.

Hey West, how about going off somewhere and fucking yourself.
My stepfather is also a doctoral Harvard man, Class of '68, I believe. His degree was in chemistry although he went on to be a prominent artificial intelligence expert, software engineer, professor and several time author. He felt all the pressure to go along with their liberal community narrative while he was there. Today he thinks they're a bunch of assholes who are full of shit.

What instructions did the professor give you for living your life snowflake?

we need free democratic decentralized republics where every citizen enjoys full human rights in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran and all other 3rd world countries. that will create lasting peace and root out terrorism

Here's a fascinating article of how South Africa and Iran alike were intertwined in a 20th-century world of global capitalism, colonialism, and commerce. It may seem far-fetched now, but there was once a time when South Africa was the epicenter of global commerce. when the Suez Canal opened, South Africa lost it's global relevance

South Africa's National Treasury's deputy director-general for tax and financial sector policy, Ismail Momoniat, says that during President Jacob Zuma's presidency (2009-2018), the country reversed all the economic growth gains achieved between 1994 and 2008.
