Obama's speech on education: The controversy is mostly about race.

Key point that is oh some damn true, especially for idiots like DiveCoon, RGS, etc:

One can’t help but wonder, if it’s socialism these parents are worried about then why are they taking marching orders from General Rush Limbaugh and the other conservative commanders of the far right who have laced much of their criticisms of the president in race-based language and called the president himself a racist? These demigods have exploited the racial fears of irrational, uniformed people and made them captive to group think that posits that white people are losing more and more control over their lives every day because the black man in office is hell-bent on denying them the white privilege that, until his election, was their birthright.

No, it isn't. It's about his government-grab policies. If you see it as racial, then it will be racial. But you are wrong.

The past is the past, there is no changing it, the present is here and now. You should listen to Obama . . . didn't he say to look forward, not back? You would do well to get rid of that chip on your shoulders, once and for all.

No it isn't, it's about hate and self-loathing. The rightwing is melting down because they let someone they consider a communist muslim into the whitehouse.

A race? The activist far right wingtoids must be trailing far behind again.

You idiots don't learn. You got waxed last year, you will get waxed next year, your days are over forever.

But white people ARE fucked these days. The funny thing about oppression is that nobody every admits you're oppressed until years into the future. Whites' reaction is nearly normal; the only abnormal thing about it is that we're so indirect about it, calling the problem "socialism" when the real problem is Life With Non-Whites and the impossibilities it poses.

It ain't "socialism" that's the problem. It's multiracialism.

Are you this stupid in real life, or do you just play an idiot on the internet?

Is it overtly racist? I don't know. I only know who the people are who are insane in their responses to him... and what is being said.

There is no power grab that comes close to what the incompetent in the white house for the previous 8 years did... up to and including pretending that the VP wasn't part of the executive branch and violating TWO court orders to release the veep's visitor logs.

It has nothing to do with what went on in the last administration, quit trying to divert the subject and try addressing the OP instead.

In assessing the reasons for the insane response to our president from certain quarters, it's impossible to ignore the non-responses of the same people to true power grabs.

sorry... hypocrisy doesn't get a pass from me.

Evidently you just like giving a free pass to the OP and it's unproven and outlandish claims.

You know, Bush Sr. told kids to write him with suggestions on how to help.

When the GOP does it, it's okay, just like when Bush Sr. and Bush Jr. (as well as Reagan) talked to the kids at school. They also said it was okay to bring loaded guns to presidential rallies.

When the Dems do it? Can't even wear a t-shirt to a rally, and then they say that because the President wants to talk to kids and encourage them to do better, it's indoctrination.

I didn't concur with the OP. I DISAGREED with the false premise that the objection to the president is some type of "power grab".

Other than you, who said it was ok for the GOP to do it, but not for the DNC to do it?
You seem to be flinging claims out but I bet you can't prove that either parties platforms made those types of claims.

The OP was claiming that opposition was due to racism, did you disagree with that? You are trying to divert the subject again.

I didn't respond to the OP. I CHOSE to respond to Zoom's false assertion. Last I heard, responding to a post on a thread did not have to respond specifically to the OP.

Fine, I'll lay off.

Controversy Over Obama’s School Speech Is About Race

I disagree. It doesn't bother me to have a "black" man talk to school children. It bothers me to have a man of Obama's poor character talking to school children. As a role model, he stinks. I could care less what color he is.

But then on the other hand, I think black people are only in this country so white people have somebody to fuck with. I came to that conclussion after starting to believe the majority of your posts. You're right. If you're black, and in America, you are fucked. So, armed with this truthful knowledge, why don't you go someplace where you might be more accepted --- where ever that might be!

Evidently it wasn't okay for Bush Sr. to do it. Congwess had an investigation.. what yar was that? oh yes 91.
