Consumed, the movie...GMOs

Tampering with genetics the way it is happening right now is like someone that has no idea what a nuclear weapon is and is whacking at it with a hammer to see what happens.
You are a card carrying leftist and I am the opposite, but on this, we agree.

You really cling to labels eh.

You can label me a libertarian all day every day and it would not bother me. Why does it bother you? Are you not a proud card carrying leftist?

What possible health problem could gmo's present?

If say i splice a gene from a cabbage plant to make a tomato plant more resistant to the cold what possible harm could there be?

Bullshit. Genetic modifications now are much more precise and much better understood than old time modifications which, in some cases, actually used radiation.

I wonder if the movie goes into the role of glyphosate?

The more I have researched this issue, the more I have come to suspect, it may not so much be GMO that is or is not causing havoc, but this over used chemical that so few longitudinal studies have been completed and peer reviewed.

Some preliminary studies indicate there are some problems.

That's why I wrote; "that so few longitudinal studies have been completed and peer reviewed."

There IS a reason for that you know.

There is also a reason that there are laws on the books protecting the use of this chemical and Monsanto.

If you don't know what Iron Triangles and Revolving door politics are, or how the government protects corporate power at the expense of consumers, perhaps you should learn.

Don't leave us all in suspense.

No idea what "your" paid bureaucrats in D.C. are up to huh?

Thanks for the link.

Oddly the word glyphosate isn't in the bill.
Monsanto either.
Hitting the Sterno early today?

Humorous to see people talk about genetics like they are experts and they know the future.

You sound as asinine as trump. "trust me".

No, we don't trust you.

Glyphosate is definitely bad and we are all exposed to it...thanks to Monsanto and our corrupt government.

Americans are exposed to numerous chemicals every day. From the chlorine and fluoride in our water, toothpaste, triclosan in soaps, chemicals in makeup, hair care products, and lotions; cleaning products, laundry soaps and dryer sheets...our contaminated food supply, etc...........................

........ And our lifespans are much longer then past generation.

How'd that happen?
Some are, some aren't.

I think it depends on how you live and the choices you make.

I speak on average

Geez

I'm not. I don't even know what a 'card carrying member' is. I don't look at people that disagree with me on something as the enemy unless their actions are intentionally harming others.
I view everyone as on a spectrum, going from ignorance to well informed by fact. I then do my best to present facts to the ignorant, and learn from the geniuses.

"I don't know what genes are so altering them scares me."

What most people's objection to GMO actually is.
The film itself is not propaganda for a cause, per se: “It was important for us to not vilify Big Ag,” says Lister-Jones. “We wanted to present a balanced view and to give a voice to both sides so that audience members could leave making their own conclusions. More than anything we want them to leave with questions, because that’s what all of us can have. There have been no long-term studies; there are many regulatory loopholes. So I think without either side being able to make claims regarding safety, the biggest thing we can do is to start asking more questions.”
In other words, I don't know what genes are so altering them scares me.
