All we can go by is statistics. And they show kids from intact families do better.

That's not going to work. A pre nup deals w8th financial and property issues. Not the creation of a household of people that despise one another.

About 50% of people get a divorce. I doubt that abuse is in the double digits as to the reason. What about the rest?

For one thing you are probably just considering physical abuse. Abuse come in many forms. Then too there are people who just hate each other so much that it oozes from their pores. Some are just done. Every day is a day their lives are a waste. They may as well be dead.

Any marriage counselor would recommend divorce. Life is not a Hallmark movie where parents stick it out for the sake of the children and find out they loved one another all along.

And so one should wait until later in life because in one's 20s they're not ready for it. And one needs to be financially way way ahead before entering the marriage waters. Marriage is nor two people with little money building.
