Conservatives always turn a blind eye to the hundreds of billions of our tax dollars freely given away to Fortune 500 companies in the form of subsidies, grants, earmarks, and lucrative no bid government contracts. Most of this money is spent on lavish corporate retreats, bloated salaries and stock options for upper management, but - - let an unemployed waitress apply for food stamps to feed her children while she applies for work, and Conservatives point the finger at her and tell everyone
she is the reason for America's decline, that lazy, Socialist *****! It's high time for Conservatives to admit that Socialism has been a staple of American corporate culture for a very long time. Mention Socialism to Millennials, and they think of Scandinavia, a place of healthy, well educated, and happy people, where healthcare is free, standards of living are high, and higher education is inexpensive and respected. I'm sorry Conservatives...your Joseph McCarthy scare tactics about Socialism have become a fading relic of the cold war.
Embrace Socialism, it's not going away.
If a conservative embraces Socialism..... Then... They are not conservative.
And no conservative I know anywhere supports socialism. None.
Further, saying that we should admit Socialism is a staple of corporate culture..... You realize most of the largest corporations are run by socialists, and inherently believe in taking money from the tax payers... right?
There is nothing here to 'admit' to. Everyone knows that left-wingers are in charge of most companies, and left-wingers openly support taking money from you in taxes, to pay them. They would love to take as much money from you ignorant left-wing supporting fools as they possibly can.
See here is the irony of your post. You claimed that conservatives turn a blind eye to corporations making profits off of government, but the reality is, it is the left-wing people who do that.
I remember some idiot on here screaming about Amazon getting government grants. So I looked up Amazon's investor relations page, and looked up if they got government money. They did. Amazon is getting government money......

Yeah, for green energy power. Are conservatives pushing green energy projects? Do you see conservatives demanding wind mills, and solar panels? No it's the idiotic left-wingers that are giving out money to major corporations to build solar panels and wind mills, and then posting "Conservatives always turn a blind eye to the hundreds of billions of our tax dollars freely given away to Fortune 500 companies" like an idiot on a forum somewhere.
Mention Socialism to Millennials, and they think of Scandinavia, a place of healthy, well educated, and happy people, where healthcare is free, standards of living are high, and higher education is inexpensive and respected.
You realize that most of Scandinavia does not even have welfare, right? If you don't work in Denmark... you starve. You just starve to death. They is no welfare. They have unemployment compensation. But that requires that you actually work. Specifically, you have to work for minimum of 12 months, and when you are on unemployment compensation you only get 60% of your average wage for the past 5 years.
That's not tons of money. There is no luxury welfare state in Scandinavia.
On top of that, you lose 40% of your income in taxes. On top of that, you pay 25% Sale Tax on everything you buy.
And that is the poorest people. Not the rich. That's everyone.
High standard of living in Scandinavia? Have you been to Scandinavia? Do you how big houses are, that middle class people live in, in Denmark?
Denmark is supposed to have some of the largest average house sizes in Scandinavia. Do you how big they are? 1,000 sq ft. The average in the US, is 2,500 sq ft.
You know why? Because they lose 40% to 60% of their income in taxes. Small houses, about the size of my college apartment, are all they can afford.
Yes, they have a high standard of living compared to 3rd world countries. They are not living in mud huts in China.
But to say that Millennials think of Scandinavia as being so great, just proves how utterly ignorant and uninformed they are.
You know what electricity costs in Denmark? 37¢ per kWh. You know what it is in the US? Averages about 13¢ per kWh. (and that depends on how socialist the state is that you live. In Ohio, I'm paying about 9¢ per kWh).
You know how much gasoline is in Denmark? $6.84 per US gallon.
This is why so many Danes do not drive cars. It's not because they are "green conscious", it's because they are poor, and can't afford to drive a car.
Did you know that Denmark had, or still has a 100% car tax?
You want to pay $40,000 for a $20,000 car?
Ooooo but they have free education. Have you looked at how many schools in Scandinavia are in the top schools in the world?
In the top schools in the world, you have only 2 schools in the top 40, from Scandinavia. University of Copenhagen which is 34, and University of Amsterdam which is 40th.
You know how many US universities are in the top 40? 23. Eight of the top 10, are US universities.
Education is better in Scandinavia? Not even close. That's fact, not opinion.
Any idiot who says Scandinavia is better, hasn't been there, and does not anything at all about how those people live.
And by the way... did you know that people in Scandinavia earn less money for the same jobs in the US? So not only do you lose half your income in taxes, not only are you paying 4 times as much for power and fuel, not only are you paying 100% tax on cars, and 25% sales tax on everything.....
but you also earn less money to begin with. A software programmer in the US earns upwards of $100K year. In Denmark you'll be lucky to make $50K.
Now ask why? Why are people in Denmark, earning a fraction of what we do in the US? Taxes. To pay for your free education, free health care, and everything else. Every single dollar the employer has to pay to the government, is one less dollar they can pay employees. So the result is, a software engineer that would be upper class in the US, in Denmark is earning a wage comparable to a truck driver.
And lastly, just a word about equality. There is no equality in Denmark. Poor people live poor. Rich people live rich. You simply don't know anything at all about Scandinavia if you think otherwise.
